Then, they said, let verse
Soar, embellish, settle, explore
Soul, strand, air, sea, land.

Find all the terra
Incognita that is both dream
And fast-flowing stream.

Capture what you can,
Sing it: Dirge, lament, cheer, paean.
Woven, set loose, held.

Dance to it, sway, leap:
We know words never sleep, never
Fail in the deep. No.

They swim, dive and prance.
The poem is ever present
Even in a trance.
