Is it as big of a question in her mind as it is in mine?
Does she ask herself the same things that I ask myself?

Of the things I know,
That which is closest to me
Is the farthest from my understanding.
I do not know what my own heart is telling me.

The pleasures of the flesh keep themselves at bay.
I have no need for that kind of clutter.
Nor do I have need for this barbed wire to be wrapped around my
Adulterous heart.
As if I had a choice....

But I ask myself why?
Does she?

Is there substance behind that look,
Is it corporeal,
Or is it a wraith?

Should I undertake to embrace a ghost?
Or let it take care of itself?
