I've lived for 53 years now. The product of a broken home. Educated in the some of the worst public schools in America. Raised for the most part in what many would call the ghetto part of town. Yet, here I am.

I've been married and had kids. I've lived. I've had sex, and lovers. I've lived sober and I've been an alcoholic as well as a pill popping coke head. Yet, here I am

I've served my country honorably. I volunteered for three combat tours and survived. I've seen friends and acquaintances die. I know how to take a life and how to save a life. Yet, here I am.

I've driven to and through the worst and best parts of the United States. I've seen poverty and wealth. Nothing and excesses. I've actually been on both sides of that fence. Yet, here I am.

Yes, I've been many things to many people. But through it all I've never, honestly, truly been me. Yet, here I am.

Sometimes I'd just like to know why.
