mind muddled.
Body worn.
Blood everywhere.
Eyes swollen
from tears.
Hums "You
Are My Sunshine"
between the rattles
of infection
in her chest.

The phrases are straightforward, simple, then the unexpected ending punches you in the gut. This broke my heart. Good work.
