i am the dreamer, you are the dream
if we are separate, as they seem--
sprung from the pillow of illusion, awake,
i turn the image of you softly, slowly,
to discover anything missed by sleep.
even here
i cannot escape the breathless wish
for your lenient touch
arousing crazy heart
craving
half insane just the kindness of your cheek against my own.
(who has lived in my body
unwelcome and mean? i forget
gone for good)
no apology is made in sleep
the small heat of your breath
drawn in against my neck
i cannot keep from asking you down against my breasts
to yes i will for you
everything yes.
(this small treasure:
just because you exist
i dream.
what, he says, what does that mean?)
easy...
peeling an apple, you give me half:
the half you eat
fills me, too,
the other i eat
for love of you.
