Karma taps your shrugging shoulder
whispers wonder of where I’ve been
no bad deed is left unpunished
sheltered outcomes
and what you chose instead
spin the girl
now turn her over
round and round your muddled head
thought you’d skipped the sin right over
integrity was long ago swept
rugs leave remnants
dirty footprints
dribbled lips
tell where you’ve been
toss the lies like she’ll believe them
duck quickly
karma hits your head

what was done in the unthinking

while we look the other way

comes to us all in the end

we witness it in eyes unblinking

our lips split with what to say

to losing a love of a loving friend
