At times the crystal clear pools
Invite me to join in the solace.
With hints of green around the edges,
I know that there is no rushing current
But the calm serenity of reflection.
I once found them iced over and cold,
Not revealing anything that lay beneath,
Despite my heated gaze and interest.
They give pause for a moment here
Then move merrily on their way laughing,
Bringing joy to those who see
And life to those who could share.
Despite their purest blue they burn,
With the liquid fire of hottest Hell,
Searing into my soul the anguish of time,
Sealing the wounds that cannot heal.
But mostly in your eyes I find the love
That can be given in no other way.
