Your Ice Your Fire
by
Robert Reams

Chicago lay gleaming in the distance'
Waves boiled 'round our feet.
The stars that sharply glinted
seemed to call across the night.
We watched as angry lightning
flashed down on distant shores.

And as you told your tale
of another storm, another lake,
a cool crisp autumn breeze
blew 'cross your upturned face.
Your voice, your eyes, held fire
that licked across to touch me.
