Wish I could make you giggle.
Wish I could see as you
turn your toes down,
roll your head back,
and laugh with ease.

Seconds pass from me.
I stare at this screen,
and think about that sight
of you with the tip of your tongue
caught between your teeth,
as your shoulders quiver,

but I still can't form the words
that might ellicit
that reaction.

Tumbling clothes in the other room,
air conditioner on high,
and a pure silence in my head
that speaks softly of love,
despair, control, and anger,
but never quips of humor
from the satire of life's absurdity.

I wish I could make you laugh
like a dream come true, again,
but as I write, tears well,
and I lose that vision of your smile.
