Your silhouette against the sunrise
bundled against the cold
your breath written in the breeze
greets me as I awaken.

I see the colors of the morning
sifting through your hair
sunlight framing you
an early morning paradise.

The music of the forest
silenced in last night's passion
give a rhythm to your movement
flowery, sunrise choreography.

I remembered the stars,
and how I traced your body
searching the heavens
for a form as beautiful.

And now that beauty returns
your form written between
the brilliant watercolor skies
and your deep shadow before me.

I reach out to your shadow
watch it slowly move over me
tracing your every movement
in dark curves over my body.

Your darkness upon me now
taunting, teasing me, reminding me
of the bright shining brilliance
of your gentle loving touch.

I grasp tightly for these moments
stopping time in your shadow
my memory frozen in your brilliance
to only see it slip silently away.

The horizon's kaleidoscope fades
into light blue early morning
and your darkness slips from me
as you wander quietly away.

How lovely.....

.....and wistful. I enjoyed reading this several times and will again. Thank you.

This is lovely

and evocative. I love the way it uses images from the natural world to convey abstracts--so vivid! Overall, the poem is, for me, reminiscent of Neruda and his vibrant, sensual imagery.

Shadows and Sunlight

The intermixing of light and dark, passion and cold, shadow and sunlight makes this little sketch of love a poem that is a beautiful read of contrasts. - Your best so far. Please keep writing and sharing with us.
