Do you see me naked?
Of course you don’t.
Labouring in your slumber
You’re the same -

When we met
Our bodies were eloquent debaters
One was the harp and the other
The strummer, with tender fingers
Tracing the contours of skin
Damp with salty sweat
Our senses heightened in unison
Parallel waves undulating in vibrato.

I’m wrapped in the sheets like a cocoon
I was in for the last month
You’re the same –

A cocoon: insulated, blind and deaf
I was bandaged in that shroud
For too long, much too long.

My senses electrified by your skin
Pulsating
One, two and ah!
Scurrying off into places, corners of me, I-

You’re asleep, I’m wrecking my
Fully awake brain.
It’s time.
It is time
For me to leave.

I’m sorry, I just didn’t see.
