Little green squashes
striped and full
Pink cars
and the trains
rocket across the bridge

Far below on sandbars of time
exposed in the heat of the summer Sun
Bursting with the crawling
guttersnipes of the river bed

Will they crack open,
spew out their black seed
      Come, turn the earth.

Stolen moments of time
when the river dried
Is there water there
shall the buffalo foul?

who eats the pink crocodile
stuffed in the melon
