lion at the watering hole

stripes and spots and tufts
disappear into the grass
on quick hooves and paws
when leo comes

she becomes a
solitary pool
for quiet reflection

aqua quivers
feeling his fierce image
on her surface
they merge
waiting

pink tongue touches liquid twin
ripples circle
as he drinks
in deep

licks paws
looks past
leaves her
waiting for that thirst
and momentary identity

Lauren, you are right

There was something missing, I was holding back, you are very perceptive. I have heard you are an intelligent, talented woman. Tomorrow, check out deeper into the zodiac for another piece of the story, if you have time. Thank you for the comments-- Seattle

Imagery

Good description, but I missed something more. There's a tension waiting beneath the surface of that pond, a poem.

Very vivid

Such a lively decription. I could almost feel the sun shining down on me.
