"...Right...yeah ok great. I'll see you Monday morning...Thanks Charles have a great weekend!"

Argh! Meetings and more meetings, it never ends. (Sigh) At least Westcorp seems to have an idea of what the hell they're doing.

"Are you leaving for the day Rach?"

"Yeah it's been a long and exhausting week. Why don't you cut out early today Deb. I think we could all use a quiet and relaxing weekend after this."

"I won't argue with that. Have a great weekend!"

"You too! Oh and don't forget, the next two weeks I'll be working offsite at Westcorp so if you need to get in touch with me call me on my mobile. See you later Deb!"

Uh! Why did I agree to a 9am meeting on a Monday morning again? (Sigh) It's going to be another long work week of meetings, emails, and presentations. At least it keeps me busy I suppose, better to keep my mind on my work instead of...other things.

"Good morning Rachel!"

"Hi Charles how are you?"

"Oh you know how it is. Wanting to pull my hair out with these unrealistic deadlines whilst dealing with incompetent vendors and designers, it's never as easy as it seems on paper."

"Haha. And that's exactly why we've hired you and your company to deal with these headaches."

"Very true. We have about 20 minutes before our meeting. I can give you the grand tour of the place, seeing as it will be your home for the next two weeks."

"Sounds great. Is there anywhere that we can get a cup of coffee beforehand?"

"Of course! I'll show you where the café is."

My hour long meeting had run overtime and now rather than having a short break to gather my notes and respond to emails, I was sitting in on my next meeting listening to sales pitches and number crunching. What a day!

Another meeting at 2 followed by a meet and greet and 3:30. Yup, it was definitely going to be a long week.

My 2:00 meeting was a blur. My thoughts drifted in and out from IT processes to Nikki. I don't even know who that woman was. Nikki was blond and the world isn't that small. But I couldn't get her face out of my thoughts. She may have been a brunette, but her smiled looked incredibly familiar.

3:30 finally rolled along and I was to meet with Charles and the business analyst working my project. I know I should have been paying more attention, but my thoughts were all over the place by late afternoon. My mind was full of deadlines and processes, and with all the chaos taking place I did my best to keep my thoughts of Nikki at bay.

I was running 10 minutes late by the time I found the conference room for my meet and greet.

"I'm so sorry I'm late, my meetings have been running overtime all day..."

"Please don't apologise Rachel. It's been a chaotic day for everyone, especially for you. But I'd like to introduce you to Nikki Calvin, she's our business analyst who will be working close with you on this project."

I think my jaw dropped as I froze in time. It was Nikki. She stood from her seat and reached across the table to shake my hand. But she was different. She wasn't the cute little temp who used to file my reports, she had this confidence and maturity about her.

"Hi Rachel. It's been a long time."

Her smile melted my insides.

"Oh do you two know each other?"

"Uh..."

"I used to temp at the company Rachel works for. Almost two years now hey?"

I tried to speak, but couldn't quite gather my thoughts in time to respond. "Uh yeah. Yes. Nikki did work for me at one time. She left quite the impression."

I couldn't keep my eyes off of her luscious lips as her smile pierced me. She was more beautiful than I had remembered her.

"Well ladies shall we get down to business?"

I sat and listened as Nikki spoke about the system designs for our project. From our brief conversations in the past, I gathered that she was intelligent but I was blown away by her thought processes and details.

We sat and stared at each other as Charles continued on designs. I never realised how blue her eyes were before, and to be honest she looked even more gorgeous as a brunette. But her facial expression gave little hints as to how she felt about seeing me again.

Our meeting ended just shy of 5pm. Charles walked us out of the conference room and assured me I was in great hands with Nikki as he bid his farewells for the day. After he left, I turned to face Nikki but before I could speak.

"I'm really looking forward to working with you again Rachel."

She smiled and that was it. Not a word spoken about our little "incident" in my office. I was confused, sad, and upset. But I left it as it was and bid her farewell.

Weeks before Rachel came to our office, Charles had already informed me of our new client. I was going to be working with the director of finance named Rachel Weiss. How I could possibly forget Rachel Weiss!

During our meet and greet, I did my absolute best to keep professional. I felt a little light headed as we finally stood face to face, but luckily a smile can hide quite a bit. I watched her as she stared directly at me, but I couldn't tell if she was happy to see me or not.

After Charles said goodbye, she turned to me and I watched as the little wrinkles on her forehead began to form. I could tell she was uncomfortable about what to say to me, so I kept it short and sweet. I told her I was looking forward to working with her again and left.

Rachel sent me an email Thursday morning saying she needed to talk to me about some things, so I suggested a lunch date at the pub next door. We planned to meet at 1, but I got there a few minutes early to save a table from the lunch rush.

I sipped on my beer and scanned the menu as I waited for Rachel to show up. She walked in a few minutes later looking flustered and exhausted.

"Sorry I'm late...again. I swear I'm usually the one on time if not early..."

"It's okay I understand. Would you like a beer?"

My eyes widened with surprise and confusion. "For what?"

"I never got to say thank you and goodbye...for helping me with all the purging and filing. I know it was a pain in the ass."

Still confused I forced out, "oh yeah sure, it was my job after all...was that it?"

"No...I um...I wanted to talk to you about...the last time you were in my office..."

I couldn't help but smile as her cheeks became flushed from embarrassment.

"I never did anything like that...with a woman before..."

"...and...what did you think?"

Her green eyes pierced me as she stared deeply into mine. She smiled and I noticed a quick glance to my lips.

The rest of Thursday was a complete haze for me. Whilst I had meeting after meeting, my mind was completely on Nikki. We both finally opened up and I found it quite easy to talk to her about everything, once we got passed the awkward stage of trying to bring the conversation up.
