A New Beginning Ch. 08

I looked around at everyone. Again, there were nods of agreement.

"Now think about this," I continued. "You and your partner, who ever he or she may be, are off in the bushes doing your thing when all of a sudden a Triceratops Rex or Utahraptor comes along and bites your head off."

Leonard stood up, grabbed his crotch and yelled out, "Oh, that hurts!" Then everyone laughed.

"Nice joke Leonard, only I'm not talking about the head of your dick."

I paused a moment. Then, "Now let's get serious. "Is there anyone of you that wants to have sex right here in front of everyone?"

No one answered me.

"Then I'm open to suggestions. Anyone got any ideas as to where we could do our love making." I had already discussed this with Joshua and Doc Yves before we separated from the living section. The three of us came to a consensus on where we could do our thing.

I know exactly what you're thinking. Yes, I talked it over with them after I had sex with each of them. We pretty well figured that there was only one solution. But I wanted it to come from the crew, not us. That way it wouldn't look like the senior officers were dictating every policy we would be following.

"How about if those who want sex just fix themselves up a cot or something under the James Cook at night and . . ."

"You can do that if you want to Vickie," Josephine cut her off, "but I'm not going to fight bugs, dinosaurs and God only know what else all night long just for sex."

"Me neither," added Aleks.

"What about . . . never mind."

"What Louis?" I answered him. "We would all like to hear it. Who knows, maybe it's a better idea than you think."

"I was going to suggest on top of the James Cook's wings but that would be just as bad as the ground under it. Plus you'd have the PrimusPrimates to put up with."

"Yeah you're right. OK, anyone else?" I asked.

Veronica cautiously raised her hand. "Why don't we use the upper flight deck as sort of a love nest, like we when we were in space? We could section off a couple of areas and whenever someone wanted to make love they could just go there."

"Or we could build little huts for ourselves," Anthony interjected.

"That would take several weeks, maybe months for everyone to have their own hut," added Natalie. "I like Veronica's idea."

"Me too," both David and Regina called out at the same time.

I added, "Sounds like a great idea Veronica." I knew someone would come up with the idea eventually. "Joseph, if we leave the forward section under the windows for an infirmary for Doc, how many love nests could be built up there?"

"I don't know. Maybe four or five I guess. It would depend on how big you wanted each area."

"Just big enough to lay a small mattress pad in, for two people to lie down on, like we had before when we were flying around out in space."

"I'm pretty sure I could build five love nests up there."

"OK, then it's settled. Laci, Josephine, why don't you help Joseph in building some little rooms on the bridge for love nests?"

"What about the solar panel. I can't do both?" Joseph asked.

"You're right. Sorry. Work on the panel." Before I could go further Doc Yves said that with Laci and Josephine helping him, his crew could do that after they finish sectioning off an area for the infirmary. He said that he would just need a little guidance from Joseph from time to time.

I paused again and thought about how to proceed. Then I cautiously said, "There's one other thing I think we need to discuss with regards to sex, ladies and gentlemen."

Everyone looked at me questioningly.

"Captain Antoinette if you're thinking about how we decide who gets to use the love nest . . ." Akira started to say.

"No it's not about that," I cut her off. I looked around at the faces. "I think we should all think about making ourselves sexually available to everyone, including you Chantelle."

Josephine gave me an astonished look. "You mean I should let all the men fuck me whenever they want to? Toni I became a prostitute for the money. There's no money in it now."

"No that's not what I mean."

"Then please explain yourself. I'll do anything I can to help us all make a go of it here in our little Shangri La," she answered me.

"I mean I think we should all think about living together as one large extended family. No one person should claim another person for their own private sexual gratification. In other words, I don't think two people should pair off for sex solely with each other and exclude all others, even if it's a mutual relationship."

I paused and looked around at everyone gathered in front of me.

"Think about it y'all. If we all pair off then there will be two women without partners. They'll want sex and the next thing you know our little Shangri La will be destroyed."

Laci asked, "You mean no one pairs off with another person like they were married or something. We all just live as single adults sharing sex with each other?"

"That's exactly what I mean Laci," I answered her. "We're all mature adults. We have to be pragmatic about this . . ."

"What about children?" Regina interrupted me. "How are we going to tell who the father is?"

"If we're all living together as one large extended family, will it really matter? I know I for one will treat anyone's child the same as I would treat mine. I don't think that there is anyone here that would do differently."

There were nods of approval from everyone.

"Think about it y'all. If we start to form little groups it will only be a matter of time before we become divided. If we can't live together then we'll die."

Beth then made a good point. "Suppose I don't like having sex with a particular person. Do I have to have sex with him?"

I started to answer but Doc Yves beat me to it. "There are nine men and eleven women here. I think it's possible for us to be a little selective. If you don't want to have sex with someone just tell him or her so. I don't think there is anyone here demanding to have sex with everyone. I know I'm not."

"Me neither," echoed Natalie.

Louis then spoke up. "Toni's right everybody. We all have to live in the James Cook. It's pretty cramped in there. The only way we're going to make it is if we all share what little we got. That includes not only food, tools and supplies but sex as well."

Joshua added, "Unless you prefer to live in celibacy the rest of your life and I know I don't want to do that. As for going off by yourself, anyone who goes off by him or her self to live will be dead in a week."

There were nods of agreement from everyone.

"Thank you, Louis, Joshua," I said. "Anyone got anything else they want to add?"

Doc Yves asked, "What about children? Do you think it's safe to bring children into this world at this time or do you think we should wait until we're settled first?"

Beth, Vickie and Chantelle all immediately said that we should wait until we are settled. The rest of us echoed their opinion.

"Anything else," I asked. No one had anything else to add. "OK, we all got chores to do to get this place in shape. Joseph where did you put those shower sketches you made?"

"There with my personal gear. I'll get them."

"Thanks." While waiting for Joseph, I watched everyone spring into action. From the responses I got at this, our first meeting, I was enthusiastic. Our future looked good. The only thing we had to worry about was an attack by a Triceratops Rex or Utahraptor or some other large dinosaur. I said a silent prayer that that wouldn't happen until Joshua and Joseph could make us some crossbows and we could learn how to use them.
