A Twist of the Fates Ch. 04

I wondered to myself just how much of these to take to the bank, but since I had all the documentation and no one could question that they belonged to me now, passed down generation by generation, I could securely set our family up for the next few thousands of years if needed. Jenna was going to be slightly upset that we had ever had to struggle but in the end she would see now that I had truly loved her all this time, I just needed the reassurance that she would be with me for all time of her own accord and not trapped into it by something. I didn't tell her of my plans just yet. I wanted to wait until I had the money securely set up in a bank and an allowance set up for each child as well as college funds for all five of us.

Setting down for a moment I also thought about laying out college funds for Jenna's younger brother and his wife as well as their two children. I'd also set a few others aside for a couple of our friends children and do it without much flourish. Just as we came into this money and I thought of you and what it could do. I made mental notes of what I wanted to do otherwise with the money and soon had a list that I could quickly run off about a million dollars in no time with very little problem. Most of this would be tax free as well. This was as good a time as any to start to truly enjoy all I had saved over the 3,000 years and squandered away for just such an event. No longer would I wander the world alone. I now had a family to share it with and I was going to enjoy it to the fullest. Our families would also receive some money so that when our parents retired there'd be no struggles ever again.

I went back out to my girls and finished my story. I brought them up through the last few centuries, adding that the 10 had always fought for anonymity and that once in a great while one of us would, come into a windfall of money and notoriety. Never so great and in close succession as to tie us together or to allow anyone to know that there was an abundance of wealth out there hidden in various places. Time was always on our side and if one of us began to get too destitute the others would chip in to pick them up if needed. Our telepathic bonds stretched the globe when we wished, so we could easily find and speak with one another. It was rare in this day to feel that probe be sent out and the last time it had happened had been back in the 1800's. I had never revealed that I had the bonds; I had slowly purchased big quantities in the early 1900's with money and gold stored away for years. Then they had been expensive for that time but I knew I wouldn't have to touch them for a long time, and when they would mature it would be a windfall. I just hadn't known exactly how much.

That night we went out to dinner and did a little shopping running our current bank account down to nearly nothing. There was no fear though for that money was soon about to come and there'd never be another monetary worry again. It was nice for once to be able to shop without restraint. It wouldn't happen often but for a few months I'd let the kids basically go crazy, and I'd spoil my sexy little vampire wife for once. She had done without for so long that I wanted her to cut loose and enjoy the freedom a little.

When Monday rolled around I went to our bank to cash in the bonds and after many hours of the branch manager's time as well as several phone calls to the treasury department and other officials, I was able to deposit the money into the separate accounts and open a few new ones so that the money was spread out. I alerted the manager that I still had several more bonds and would be cashing them in as well and set up an appointment with him to do so. Although I expected it to take several days if not weeks the bank and treasury had jumped at the chance to lay their hands on the bonds. These were the oldest in existence and having been verified as authentic the money had been wired directly into the account then and there.

I had walked in nearly poor and walked out with the very likely possibility of soon being one of the richest men in America. This was all done after having secured a non-disclosure agreement with the bank officials and no one would ever know who or how much was involved. I had decided though that a small splurge was in order and went to purchase a new truck for myself. Yes, for those of you wondering extended cab, all the perks and a few other toys that I could add just because. I wasn't going to run through this money but I was going to enjoy it for a little while.

When Jenna came out of work that afternoon she was exhausted, it had been a long day and her mind hadn't been focused on the tasks in front of her. She had thought about all Stephen had shared and what her new life was to become now. How so much had changed in a year. It amazed her and yet the real changes were about to happen, little did she know that in a few hours she never would have to work again. She would be able to do whatever she wanted along with creating a company, going back to school or just travelling for a while. Or she would think later that evening when the truth had been shared, she could now spend time with her family, and really get to know Stephen again. No secrets nothing held back.

Stephen went forward with a few of his plans and purchased a home in Ohio near Jenna's parents, he also purchased the home they currently lived in and had already talked to a relator in the area about a huge plot of land so they could build a home here. He knew exactly what he wanted and was finally going to build a house in a few places that would make him and the family happy. The funny thing was no matter what he had done today moneywise there was no dent in his now sizable bank account. When Jenna walked through the door that evening he began to lay things out to her.

Jenna's reply had been simple she pulled him back into the bedroom the minute the children were tucked in and well...I think that is best left to the next chapter.
