She smiled, "You're not planning a SRS are you Sara? And of course the drug is safe. You'll be on a reduced form of estrogen. You may not become quite as erect but it varies." She touched my hand.

"Listen, I've seen only one other extraordinary transition. She didn't want to lose her penis either. If I'm mistaken let me apologize. When a new woman passes as easily as yourself they generally don't need as much adjustment to feel truly female."

She approached and reached to touch my chin, turning my head from side to side, "Who helped you with your voice Sara? Yes, I wouldn't even recommend a trachea shave. How often do you have to shave dear, no this looks like a wax removal. You're quite smooth."

We discussed the past two weeks, "So you're telling me that less than twenty days ago you hadn't even considered these changes? I must say that is a little unsettling. Maybe we need to consider a therapy session. Can I setup an appointment with a good friend who specializes in this type of counseling?"

The nurse came back in, "Please arrange for Sara to meet with Thema at the earliest possible date, and schedule a visit with Dr. Charles as well. Oh, and Rachel will provide you a letter in case you're stopped by an officer prior to your legal name change. Have you considered the type and size for you eventual chest?"

I touched my breast forms, "These are nearly perfect, but what do you think?"

The nurse chuckled, "That size is a whole lot easier to live with then these big mamas!"

The doctor smiled, "Nurse Rachel is quite endowed. Those look like a full 'C' and I think their fine Sara."

Book Time

Jeepers, I wish I could shop like Sara. When I do, often I hit ye old used book store and grab up a couple of my favorites as little gifts for "new gurlz". Some are metaphysical, some how to, other are jokes and witty stuff. The best of these offer insights and commonalities set in a captivating adventure story. This gem of a work is the same. I feel energized and blessed as I read this. Thank You, Maddie, for sharing. kisses, jojo

I've Been Waiting For This...

...And you've done another admirable job putting all of this together. My feelings are that things are going well right now. But the earlier Sara can get professional help that she feels gives her adequate support, the better she will be able to deal with the larger issues we've all had to deal with... our lovers and our families. What I tell young girls walking into this, is it simply doesn't matter what you've decided to do with the private parts we started out with between our legs. Getting an SRS won't make your life any easier or harder (other than the procedure itself of course), it has to do with how it affects your view of yourself as a woman. If a partner needs you to have an SRS to have sex, best look for another partner. On the other hand, just having an SRS doesn't mean you won't have to explain your origins as a woman to a partner. Either way you decide to go, your partner deserves to know... everything. If you expect acceptance, he or she deserves the truth up front. Most TS women will find this one of the hardest issues to deal with as eventually the fact that you started out as a male, has to be broached. Finding co-workers for friends, neighbors as friends, and even strangers as friends, can be difficult... finding a lover willing to accept you completely for who you are? A lover of the opposite sex? A hetero lover? ...{sigh} ...Priceless. And the sooner Sara gets professional feedback on her sexual orientation (as it can very well be affected by gender) will help her to form realistic goals for finding a partner. She may be a lesbian, but a label can be such an illusion, and can create such heartache.

Then we come to the hardest of all transition issues... maintaining our family ties after our true gender isn't being kept in a closet anymore. Sadly I have had more friends take their own lives because this step goes... oh so terribly wrong. Well, can't wait to see where you go with this ultimate issue for Sara. Sara's journey has been a wonderful story to read. Thank you for doing such an excellent job of writing this in the form of a journey that helps and encourages others to better understand it. Cheers! --- Josie
