Miley had been holding my hand as we watched the film in the screening room, occasionally gripping it tightly during the tougher to watch parts. She'd covered her eyes during the rape scene, and I'll admit it was tough to watch.
"Is it over yet?" she whispered to me
"Yes, it's OK now." I replied and held her a little closer
I guess I was lucky I hadn't done photos that day. Mark was wise to have only essential members of the crew there that day, it was his wishes, not Miley's. He was already showing himself to be not only a capable director, but a caring director for a scene that could be tough for any actress, no matter her age. Sure you could say it was only a movie but I guess when the person on the screen is next to you, you find yourself sympathizing with her.
The studio honchos were shaking Mark's hand. I could hear their comments and they seemed positive, but the final reviews would come from theatergoers.
"Come on cowboy, let's go celebrate." She said with that classic smile of hers
"Good idea, Hannie Caulder."
We both laughed as she playfully gripped my arm and we headed for my car.
