Lily and Brennan looked at each other. "No," they said in unison.
Twenty minutes later they were finished. Lily had a small bronze seal; it was set into a piece of hardened leather, with the words "Rank 1" burned into the material. She had decided to train as a Skirmisher, more out of a desire to be finished with paperwork than out of any particular affinity she had felt with James' description.
"Now what?" she asked, skipping around Brennan as they walked. "Do I go on an adventure?"
"Tomorrow morning we'll get you equipped. Which, yes," he continued as she opened her mouth, "means you'll get 'real clothes.' Then a few weeks of training, and you'll be ready for your first contract." He looked the girl up and down as she bounced excitedly from foot to foot. "I'm filled with regret already. Let's get back to the inn."

Creepythinmanalmost 2 years agoThis is a story I've been waiting for! All too often you read tales of the hero vs the villain. Common fare. But this? This is excellent. I wish to read more of the adventures of Brennan & Lily. I can tell Lily obviously is fond of him. But just how much? I think a knight & skirmisher would make an excellent pair! Kudos to you! Please write more chapters!
