Click hereI had spoken louder than I had thought, and suddenly the chatter in the room stopped and everyone turned and was watching us.
"I knelt in front of her and said formally "Will you forgive me and marry me My lady."
I looked up her eyes had a haunted look in them and I added. "You may wish for time to consider which I understand especially at this time of grief."
"No My Lord, of course I will marry you, but it will have to wait awhile until the mourning period is past . But sire please come to my room, so we can be alone and talk awhile."
In her room Anne-Marie fell into my arms, we kissed, but as she was in mourning that was as far as we could go. I apologised for the mistakes I had made and laughingly referred to the time when she had insisted that she was going to marry me, when I had advised her about Lord Winslow.
She apologised then for advising and distorting the facts to his nephew and warned me that he may be seeking revenge. I laughingly told her that we were now friends and that he was now in my employ and ,ay soon be on his was on his way to Zanzibar as my agent.
It was two days later that the Queen allowed me to leave her presence. We left Warwick to return to the manor my home estate, We talked as we travelled in the coach and Devil had to travel without me and was tied to the back of the coach. On the way Emily expressed her fears to me that the number of foreclosures was leaving us with a wide spread of properties in various parts of the country, which were becoming difficult to manage. In the end we decided that we would retain all properties and estates that were adjacent to our own, but sell at the best price all properties that were a distance from ours, except in the City of London
The End.
Epilogue
This is of course not the end, but tis the end of my narrative. I never did return to the 21st century Fifteen months later, I married Anne-Marie and we had a family of two sons and three daughters. Emily had a son, and I decided five years later to disperse some of my wealth. I fear I left a lot of little bastards behind me, so I decided to settle an estate on their mothers, except for .Jammarree. All she craved for, was to stay near me and remain as a friend and companion to my sister. My sister Ethel eventually remarried and lived happily for many years.
The young Harold Winslow did eventually go to Zanzibar and invested well both for himself and for me as well. He repurchased the Winslow estate back from me and eventually married and settled down .
My mother - well she died a lonely old women, although my sister sometimes visited her, but she could not or would not change.
