"Perhaps I'll see you again," she said after a moment's silence.
"You know where I live," replied Nelth, who had apparently been studying conversational English in his spare time. "Look me up if you're (hiss) passing."
"One thing's for certain," she said softly. "I won't forget you in a hurry."
The ship shuddered, and they were both too busy to talk as they prepared for insertion into the correct orbital path. Pilots and ship became one, bearing them downwards safely to their destination, the speed of re-entry causing a flaming wake as they dropped lower and lower till from space they seemed to merge with the planet below, vanishing from the outer universe. The journey was completed.
But perhaps two races had been brought closer together.
In a way that would never have occurred to any diplomat.
