Click hereIt was only after the train had left the station that I realised that I had not bothered about contraception - not for me as pregnancy is the surest form - but for my kid sister. What a thought!!
Here's a drama that's just over 31 pages in length if you print it up on Wordpad with the margins stretched to the limit & with the quadruple paragraphs edited down to just two. A fair amount of work must have gone into this, several evenings effort by the authors, who happen to be a couple.
Before I flame this undertaking, I must ask the question: 'Is there an audience out there for this sort of thing'? There's definitely an following for interracial romance with a risk of pregnancy, but for me, there was more artistic licence in this effort than a Bugs Bunny cartoon.
The outline of the story of a student nurse working in late 1950's London was very encouraging, so I printed up all 31 pages. For me though, first person based stories have to sound autobiographical, or to put another way, sound as if the narrator was commenting on what was happening in her life. It has to sound REAL.
As early as the third paragraph, we learned that Helen - aged only 20 - was the veteran of sexual encounters with 'over 20 different men'. Waaaaaaaat? Not the sort of thing that you'd imagine from a woman of a caring profession, or any other woman. I in fact thought that the first two paragraphs were a bit OTT, but after that revelation, it was hard to take seriously.
Things unfortunately got worse, unless I'm naive and it's normal to be invited round to someone's house, then proceed - uninvited - to take a bath, ha ha ha!!! Helen then went on - without bothering to take her clothes off - to shag Paul (whom she'd only just met) in the tub, ho ho ho!!!!!!!
The two main characters then went on to speak to one another in a manner in which people simply don't speak, in a very exaggerated, unrestrained way:
"No Paul, don't withdraw, cum in my cunt"
"But I'll shoot a whole load of my spunk into you and get you pregnant"
Whether Paul got Helen pregnant or not, I do not know, as I lost interest and read no further. With only two comments before this one, I imagine that It wasn't just me!
Nevertheless, the authors did paint a good picture of how women dressed in 1958. They're not totally without writing talent & I hope that they improve and keep on scribbling
