Then something unexpected happened. As I walked through the open air parking lot, I saw The Girl.
She was just there, over one row of cars and walking, playing with the keychain in her hand. She had her hair down now, and was wearing a red long-sleeved t-shirt under a puffy black vest. I looked at her for a few seconds to be sure I wasn't mistaken, but I was pretty positive.
"Hey," I called out. The lot wasn't busy, and she heard me easily and looked over.
"Yeah?"
I cut between cars into her lane and smiled as I walked. "I think we might be neighbors. I live off 191, near Gallatin Peak. Pretty sure I saw you out in the woods with a gorgeous rifle. I'm Nate."
She smiled and held out a hand as I reached her. "That sounds like me. Good to meet you, Nate. I'm Rachel."

I realize that for a story called "Big Sky Country," not a lot of this takes place out West. That will change in upcoming chapters, however, as I plan for most of Nate's adventures to occur in terrain rougher than Lake Shore Drive. Thanks for reading, and let me know what you think.

Big Sky country
Where Eagles Rule the SKY.
Boo fuck. you had a great story going but the ending was anti-climatic, a real downer, for a Rattlesnake.
A very good start
I really enjoyed your story. I love the slow build up, and enjoy the anticipation of what's to come. While I do enjoy reading the hot description's of passion, I hate when they jump right into it. KUDOS for starting off just right for me, and I hope you post many more chapters to this story.more...
