"Right." Though Kendra wasn't convinced she didn't want more.
"So it's all professional from here on out. Right?"
Kendra forced a smile and nodded, then managed a weak, "Yeah."
Chris noticed her scrambling thoughts behind that one word answer. He looked at her for a long time, the both of them in silence. But while no more words were exchanged, their eyes said a lot. Kendra's said, 'I can't give up on you. I can't deny what I'm feeling. And I can't promise this won't happen again'.
And Chris' eyes said, 'Me either."
