Zena had no more children after giving birth to Alicia, but Meg went on to have two more children after the birth of the first one.

It is now many years after that night when Zena entered Gordon's bedroom unannounced, and Meg and Hector still share the same bed, as Zena and Gordon also share the same bed. Gordon however had the suspicion that sometimes Hector and Zena enjoyed a little conviviality, and he noticed that Meg had grown increasingly friendly with him, very friendly indeed, and he sometimes wonders who the father of her third child was.

But "by mutual consent" still rules, and looks as if it will continue to do so in their family.
