Epilog.

Carla and I continued to see each other on the average of twice a week until her seventh month. She wanted to keep going, but she was so big with the babies that I didn't I could make love to her without hurting her. That's right – babies. The ultrasound showed that Carla was going to have twins. She gave birth to two beautiful little girls.

True to her prediction Josh wanted a son so two years after the birth of the twins I got her pregnant again and this time the ultrasound said it was a boy. We made love until her eighth month and then we called it quits. We both felt that we had gotten away with it long enough and to get caught at that point would turn Carla into a single mom with three kids to raise and neither of us wanted that. As Carla put it on our last time together:

"The object was to get revenge on the cheating bastard by giving him another man's kids to raise. I need to stay married to him for that to happen."

Josh received a promotion that required him to move and I haven't seen or talked to Carla since they moved however I do think of her often and fondly.

It has been six years now and as far as I know – at least according to the telephone tap – Heather hasn't hooked up with anyone else, but then she and Josh had gotten away with what they were doing for over a year before I found out about them and I hadn't a clue. She could have possibly gotten smart enough to stop using the home phone, but I keep a close eye on her and so far I haven't seen anything that would indicate that she is fooling around.

She has been doing her best to spoil me rotten and I have been rethinking my plan to bail out when the kids hit eighteen and that will be four more years for Mike and five more for Anna.

I'll just have to wait and see.
