Click here--Tell me Har ri na, why did you not don your helmet before going over? Hearty laughter and guffaws exploded in the tavern as Harry flushed; his face filled with embarrassment as he asked himself the same question but found no reply. He finally gave up with a shrug of his silvered shoulders. More laughter spilled into the silence that had waited for his reply.
--You are the first to do so. Gerry said, raising a cup high above his head. ...Shining People, toast with me. Har ri na, Dreamer of Dreams, Bare Headed Attacker of Momentous Steps!
"MOMEMTOUS STEPS!" The voices of those gathered there roared. Laughter, drink, and backslapping congratulations enclosed him in companionable celebration. Gerry slipped away with the thought that he would return after he 'visited the bush'. Oldman joined the celebration, followed closely by Sandra. More drink, laughter, and congratulation swirled about them. Donna skirted the edge of the encircling throng to the rear where Gerry had gone.
Daniel held Margay closely, gazing into her golden eyes. His thoughts played about her senses teasingly.
--Come love, let us slip away and leave the children to their play. Their shining lights drifted away over the trees.
So I've been reading this until now, waiting for the other shoe to drop and I can't keep waiting anymore. The story is confusing and everything just seems to be a "secret", nothing seems to be "revealed", it's just accepted that you know what is going on. What was the armoured vision that Harry saw? What is Oldman keeping to himself and as they seem to be sharing minds why can't Harry and Sandra sense it? What was the door inside Harry's head with the paths leading off? Who were the people floating down the river after the mating? So many other things are going on and Harry doesn't want to ask some questions or get some clarification?
But the worst thing is that nothing is really happening and it's just a little bit boring. I don't care about Sandra or Harry and I can't believe everyone's total acceptance of an alien intelligence living inside Harry's head. All those unanswered questions and I just don't really care, and that's the issue with this story.
Glad I'm coming to this late so I can get the whole tale at once.
