You see I was once Sabrine Shadowalker, I was once proud and strong. But now I'm just an obedient slave to the Empire. I'm happy to be collared and leashed, that I might serve my Master. Dajaskaabout 6 years agoAuthorThis worked started out as something of a 'The Wheel of Time' fanfic. Its pretty blatant if you've read the books, however, not close enough to label it that way- due to so many changes. I notice people get over-the-top angry if fan-fiction isn't dead on.
In later books, the Seanchan Empire, enslave women with magical powers (channelers) and turns them into Damane, a sort of slave class. Damane are women with strong channeling talent, and their 'owners' are women called Sul'dam have little 'natural talent' but are are 'teachable.' That is they have the bare minimum power to work the slave collar. A sul'dam with training could light a candle on her own. Lots of writing and rewriting I reworked males into more of the role of Sul'dam instead.
The Sisterhood consider male channelers in their area(The Dominion) to be a joke not worth considering. They simply don't care if a man, can or cannot channel. The Sisterhood therefore is gender specific but not the society at large. They operate more akin to a powerful medieval Trade Union or religious institution. And as for children its up to the individual.
The Empire on the other hand is engaged in an active breeding program to produce more channelers, men and women. They train male channelers as Engineers, which use magical tools to create stronger tools, ad infinitum. Somewhere in the Empire's past the Engineer's tools became sophisticated enough to enslave female channelers and mostly use them to power their devices.
Anonymousabout 6 years agoWell this is quite a forceful way to enslave women, using their own powers against them! "Channeling" what precisely? A natural ability, or that of personified Nature? What did these sorceresses use it for, that the collars can twist into overpowering lust? Making them learn the litany, tricking them Into 'fitting in' to surrender to the needs forced on them!
OK, so the Empire men can't 'channel' -- but does this Sisterhood keep away from their own men, or is this a genders separated society? Can't last more than one generation unless babies are magically created, and where's the fun in that?
