"And when you do," promised Caroline as she gave me a big smile, "I'll donate half to the NRA!"

Really nice... HDK
I would say from observation that the half of marriages that last are similar to this story. Everyone has their flaws. A successful marriage is two people that work together to tolerate them and make a life full of love. I personally think my wife is beautiful. She would say her legs were too short and her breasts too small. She spends too much money on her girls and keeps me broke a lot...but she is merry and happy all the time. She brings me happiness and pride in providing for her paycheck to pay check. I am still basically broke after 35 years and she is mostly my care giver now. But I wouldn't trade the ride I have had, or my family of college educated and lovely girls for nothing. I suppose I could have been wealthier and had other women, as I was always considered an attractive man. But if we feel we have an attractive mate that adores us for life...what else is there to want? I love your new story
"The Lady in Red." But I agree with you that this story is truly one of your best short tales. You have others I am re-reading as well and they too are cute and funny. Age catches up with us. But I hope you keep on-keep on- writing and entertaining us.

Could have been put into romance instead of LW
Interesting to hear HDK's take on this story. He is such a good writer that he can make a little story about two flawed people who fit together very well a fun read.
Funny
A very content but confused husband and a plain brilliant woman. Sounds like a perfect match to me, as long as his jealousy stops. Nice tale.
