Stephanie isn't a main character; she is backdrop. I added her along the way to flesh out the story and to give the reader the sense that there is more going on than you get to read about. I suppose I might go back and do some lost tales of Tilly, but I wanted to tell this story, which brings me to my second point...
There are no 'rules' being broken. The original idol influenced women without touching them, but chose not to do so very often or with great influence. Now with the idol destroyed, the power is being managed by a teenage girl who doesn't think much about the consequences of using that power. That is until the next chapter. Be patient, readers!

Since this is a series, it would be similar to reading a book and someone never mentioned inexplicably appearing in the story with a connection to the protagonist. I have been enjoying this series since the start, but at the start I was left confused to who Stefanie was. I left the story to find mention of her, couldn't find it. I did read the story, while its a good chapter, it makes for a better chapter 3 with Stefanie getting turned in chapter 2 (possibly having multiple girls turned) to show the power being used and possibly getting drained rapidly as is suggested.
