Fighting for Love Ch. 02

"What is going on here?" a voice from the doorway inquired. Claire looked up to see her friend and mentor. "Bob, Danny's girlfriend just gave birth. Can you take the baby and check him out while I see to Jessica?" Claire asked. The older doctor took the baby from Claire and went into the main exam room. "Feeling better Jessica?" Claire murmured, turning back to her patient. Jessica nodded but winced when a smaller contraction rippled through her. "Relax, its just the placenta, this is the easy part," Claire soothed. Danny was torn between staying with Jessica and going to see the baby. Claire examined Jessica quickly and smiled. "No tearing, amazingly. When you feel steady enough, stand up, let me know and we'll get you out of the tub and into a room to rest, okay?" Claire said gently. Jessica nodded and Danny returned to her side and slid his hand into hers.

"How do you feel?" Danny asked, watching Claire and the older doctor look over his new child. Jessica shrugged a little.

"Sore, exhausted, hungry," Jessica answered. Danny laughed.

"I'm sorry for leaving like that," Danny murmured. Jessica sighed. "Not now Danny, just not now," Jessica said.
