Although Tiffany didn't want to, there was something about his voice that mesmerized her. Stepping forward, she tentatively came up to the bed, realizing that is was bigger and much higher than the average sized bed. She looked up at Daniel, who was looking down at her in amusement and rolled her eyes.
Jumping up on the bed, she lost her balance as she was turning around and reached out to grab onto something. Settling down on the bed, she heard a moan escape Daniel and looked over to see what had him so flustered.
Looking down at her hand, she noticed that her hand was placed in between his legs and blushed. She was about to snatch her hand back quickly, but was stopped by Daniel's hand on top of hers. Daniel knew that her action was innocent, but that explanation did not calm his wolf down. He knew that he should try to calm down before doing something stupid, but his wolf was out and was not going to be denied.
Leaning close to her, he lightly placed a kiss on her collarbone, causing her to shudder. "You see what you do to me baby?"
At this point, Tiffany was tongue tied. Her mind was telling her to pull back her hand and place some distance between them, but her body was telling her to get this man between her legs fast. She closed her eyes trying to calm her nerves so that she could think rationally, which was very hard to do since Daniel was placing small kisses along her neck.
Breathing in deeply, she lightly pushed Daniel's face from her neck and moved farther away. She laughed when she saw a pout form on his lips and licked her dry lips. "You look like you just lost your favorite toy."
"That's because I did." Daniel saw her breath hitch and knew that he had her. Whether she knew it or not, she belonged to him. Taking in a deep breath, he ran his fingers through his hair.
"So, what now?" Tiffany looked over at Daniel and shrugged her shoulders. Although she made it appear as though she was very experienced with men, she didn't know what to say to Daniel. Yes, she has had sex with a few, but there was no emotional attachment to those guys. With Daniel, there was a calling to her soul and an itch that only he could scratch. Biting her bottom lip, she looked down at her hands.
"We could play 21 questions." Daniel looked at her thoughtfully before shrugging his shoulders.
"Sure. There is nothing to lose at this point. You can start." Turning around and facing him, while crossing her legs so that she was Indian style, she looked into his eyes.
"Ok. What is your favorite color?"
"Blue. Yours?"
"I don't think I have one." Daniel looked at her for a minute, seeing if she was being truthful and smiled. In all of his years, he had never met a girl who didn't have a favorite color. Storing that in the back of his mind he nodded his head, waiting for her to continue.
"What is your favorite food to eat?"
"Wow that's a hard one. I would have to say anything beef. Whether that is steak, ribs, a burger. If it's beef, I eat it." Tiffany chuckled at the excited expression on his face and shook her head.
Daniel watched her and saw her expression turn grim as if whatever she was thinking of was a touchy subject. He saw her look down at her hands and noticed that they were fidgeting. He realized she did this when she was nervous and reached out for her hand soothingly as a way to coax her to say what she wanted to say.
Tiffany looked up into his amber eyes and cleared her suddenly dry throat. "W-what caused you to leave?" Daniel felt his body tense and quickly looked away. Although he wanted to be truthful with her, he didn't want to risk her judgment of him. The last thing he and his wolf needed was to lose another mate. He knew for a fact that he would turn rogue if this happened.
Clenching his jaw, he turned back to her, still not making eye contact with her. "How ever much I want to be honest with you right now, I'm not ready to tell that just yet." Tiffany felt remorse dripping from his pores and, although she wanted to comfort him, she didn't know if now would be the proper time. She watched as he focused back on her and realized that his eyes were swirling with green.
Leaning forward, she tilted her head to the side.
All this time they were together, his eyes remained amber, but something triggered them to turn green. This intrigued both her and her wolf, who was dormant for most of the conversation. She didn't even realize she was moving toward him until she felt his hands wrap around her waist and pull her onto his lap.
She was about to apologize and attempt to move off of his lap when she felt his hands move to her upper back and tighten around her torso. It was like this was his way of getting comfort from her.
Daniel didn't know why, but the need for Tiffany heightened whenever she brought up his reason for leaving the pack. He felt his wolf howl in agony in his mind and retreat back, which was the first time in a long time that that had happened.
He moved his face down to her neck and nuzzled it, breathing her sweet scent in deeply. This is what he needed, to be close to his mate. He felt her hands tentatively wrap around his shoulders and gently rub the back of his neck. He closed his eyes and gently licked her neck.
They sat this way for a moment, both content. Tiffany looked out the window and realized it was getting dark. Pulling back, she looked down at Daniel, who was now resting his head between the valley of her breast and sighed. "I have to go."
Closing his eyes, Daniel picked up his head and looked at Tiffany. "Stay." Tiffany knew that as his mate, she should feel more drawn to him as he was to her, but she didn't. It certainly wasn't because she wasn't attracted to him, but her wolf was hesitant. It was as if her wolf knew that his wolf was hesitant to have another mate.
Looking down into his eyes, she searched them. She didn't know what she was looking for, but she wanted some sign that he was into this mating. More importantly though, her wolf wanted that confirmation. Biting her lip, she looked down.
"Why?" Daniel snapped his head up at that question. He looked into her eyes, trying to see what she meant by it.
Tiffany saw his confusion and repeated her question again. She knew that her question was so sudden, but she needed this.
Moving his hands to her waist, Daniel looked deep into her eyes. "Because I want you here. I want to get to know you more. Learn about what makes you tick." He trailed his finger up the side of her body. Lightly running over her neck, he traced her bottom lip. "And what makes you melt." Taking a deep breath, he slowly let it out and leaned back against the head of his bed. "I just want my mate around."
Tiffany noticed that his eyes were once again swirling with green and absently nodded her head. Daniel felt himself relax and closed his eyes, moving his hands under his head. He felt her try to move off of his lap and quickly placed his hands back on her waist.
Opening his eyes, he looked up at her and smiled. "I told you that I wanted to get to know you, not watch you walk away from me."
Daniel watched her face, trying to figure out what she was thinking and felt his body relax when she settled onto his lap. Replacing his hands back behind his head, he placed a cool smile on his face. "So,where do we go from here?" He felt his heart skip when he heard her raspy laugh and couldn't hold himself back any longer.
Rising up, he securely wrapped his hands around her waist and kissed her. He felt her hesitation and slowly ran his tongue across her lips coaxing them open. He groaned when he tasted her sweet flavor on his tongue and deepened the kiss, pushing her head back further. He felt her tongue flick across his and groaned.
Tiffany couldn't help the moan that escaped from between her lips when Daniel possessively claimed her lips. Instinctively her body started grinding on his and she swallowed his deep groan. She felt his fingers around her hips dig deeper and before she knew it, she was on her back.
Daniel placed his hands beside her head and molded his body with hers. He knew that he should take things slower, and kept repeatedly telling himself this, but what wolf would not want to claim their mate when their mate was grinding sensuously above them.
Breaking the kiss, he trailed kisses down her neck, stopping to smell her unique scent. He felt her shudder beneath him and bent down to place a soft kiss where he planned to mark her with his bite. He placed soft kisses up to her ear before backing away and looking down at her. "You're beautiful."
Tiffany turned her head to the side, not wanting him to see her emotions and felt him turn it back to him. She looked down trying to find anything to look at instead of his commanding gaze.
Daniel saw how she retreated away from him and wondered why. Although he knew that most women sometimes were insecure, usually a man's mate was supposed to like it when complimented. Sighing deeply, he rolled off of her to the edge of the bed. He heard her shuffling on his bed and glanced behind him before moving to the door.
He knew that he was probably acting like a petty little girl to her, but she didn't understand how much she affected him with her cavalier attitude like they were not mates. Looking at her one last time, he exited his bedroom door. He needed to find his brother.
He walked down the hall, acknowledging the pack members who still seemed shocked that he returned. He turned the corner to his brother's study and opened the door.
"Hello brother." Dante lifted his head and looked at his brother with a smile. His smile quickly dropped when he noticed Daniel's expression and he placed his pen down on top of his desk. He knew that it had to be something with Tiffany, being as though he has never seen his brother this wound up over any situation. Sighing, he waited for his brother to talk.
Daniel sat down in the chair across from Dante and ran his hand down the front of his face. "Did you go for a run?"
Shaking his head, Dante watched his brother intently, trying to gauge where his brother was going with this conversation. "No. I just took a shower." His mind wondered to what he did in the shower with Madison and felt his loins stir. Smiling faintly, he focused back on Daniel.
"You know...I never thought I would find another mate." Daniel watched as Dante nodded his head and leaned back in his chair. Never in his years did he think he would be talking to his little brother about his relationship problems.
His wolf scoffed at the idea, flashing in his mind forcing Tiffany to subdue by seduction and he shook his head. There was no way he was going to mate with Tiffany by seducing her into it. He had a feeling that Tiffany would want his head if he did.
Breathing in heavily, he closed his eyes in defeat. "I don't know what to do. One minute she is talking about not staying with me, while the next she is talking, well let me correct that, thinking about what my hands would feel like over her body. I just don't know."
Dante felt Daniel's confusion seeping off of his body and leaned forward. He mentally told Madison to check on Tiffany and see how she was doing before he cleared his throat to speak. "Well...since I have more experience with Tiffany's many emotions than you do, I will tell you that she is stubborn. Very stubborn." Daniel scuffed at his statement and smiled. If there was one thing that he knew about Tiffany so far, it was that she was stubborn.
He opened his eyes and looked at Dante. "Yes. That she is." Dante smiled and continued.
"I will tell you that she has been through her handful of problems,so there may be a legitimate reason for why she is so closed off. Now...I'm not going to tell you her story. I'll save that for you to find out, but be patient. It will come. And buy some Tylenol because you will definitely need it." Daniel tilted his head back and looked up at the ceiling. Dante's words of advice were easier said than done at this point in his life.
Shaking his head, he brought his head back up and towards Dante. "What's going on with Madison and her shifting?" He watched as Dante immediately tensed and guessed that whatever he knew wasn't good news.
Dante pushed his chair back and rose up to stand. Running his fingers through his hair, he turned to look out the window behind him. "I went to Dr. Ovine and told him about Madison's shifting and he was shocked to say the least. I believe that we are all shocked about it." Turning around, he leaned back against the window crossing his ankles.
"When I told him that she is pregnant, I'm sure his eyes bugged out of his head. As you know, it is completely rare for a Were female to shift while pregnant without destroying the baby."He took in a deep breath and warily wiped his hand down his face.
"I guess you can say that I am in the same boat as you as far as confusion goes towards my mate and her well being." Daniel chuckled at this and smiled.
"Yea, but I think your relationship problems trump mine." They settled into a comfortable silence, each in their own thoughts. There was a knock at the door before Gino entered looking frantic with Dr. Ovine behind him.
"Boss. You will never believe what we found out." **
"Knock, knock, knock." Tiffany smiled when she saw Madison's head peeking in the room and laughed.
"What are you doing here girly?" Madison happily skipped up to the bed before plopping herself down next to Tiffany. She knew she should tell the true reason for her sudden arrival but didn't think Tiffany would like that she only came because Dante told her to.
Smiling over toward her, she shrugged her shoulders. "Oh you know. I just wanted to see my best friend." Tiffany felt there was something that Madison was not telling her and narrowed her eyes. Although she wanted to pry more, she figured that Madison was withholding information from her for a reason.
Placing her hands behind her head, she sighed. "Yea well I'm happy that you are happy."
Madison noticed the change in Tiffany's tone and rolled over to her side. Looking at the side of Tiffany's face, she watched as Tiffany silently said the prayer that her parents taught her, a gesture she always did whenever she was nervous or in a serious situation and waited for her to talk. If there was one thing she knew about her friend, it was not to push her to talk about a situation.
Tiffany opened her eyes when she was done reciting her prayer a couple times and looked up at the ceiling. "I'm scared Maddy." She looked over at Madison, who was intently watching her and nervously smiled. She turned her attention back to the ceiling and closed her eyes again.
"I don't know how to be in a relationship and I'm scared. He's so...caring already and I don't know how to take it or dish it. He takes me here to his room and shows me around and, although I know he did this as a way of showing me where I would be living temporarily until we mate or whatever, but I basically told him that I wouldn't be living with him. I mean...I knew I shouldn't have said that and my heart didn't want me to say that, but I just did. You should have seen the hurt look that flashed before his eyes." She took in a deep breath, trying to settle her feelings. This was all so new for her. She felt Madison's hand soothingly caress her arm and calmed down.
"But he just dismissed it and continued on trying to get to know me. Then we do 21 questions or whatever and I ask him why he leaves and for that one moment I saw his wolf retreat and felt his agony, Madison. He looked like a child who had just lost his favorite toy. He was so vulnerable and I wanted to comfort him, but I didn't. I did nothing and that speaks volumes. And now he just left me a couple minutes ago, because I wouldn't open up to him."
Madison felt the bed trembling beneath her and looked over at Tiffany. She was surprised that Tiffany was crying, only seeing her cry once in her life before this, and engulfed her in a hug.
"It's ok Tiff. Trust me, it will be ok." She heard Tiffany muffle something in her neck and pulled back to look at her.
"I just don't know what to do anymore Maddy. I saw what happened to my parents and how my dad suffered when my mom died and I don't want that to happen to me. I don't want that to happen to Daniel." Madison smiled when Tiffany just openly admitted that she cared for Daniel and wondered if Tiffany knew she did this herself. She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice Tiffany was looking at her. "What?"
Tiffany saw the goofy smile that was on Madison's face and had to think of what she said that was so amusing. "What the hell did I say?"
Madison was about to speak when there was a knock at the door. Rising up, she looked at the door before commanding whoever was on the other side to come in. She watched as Alessia slowly made her way inside and felt her body tense.
"The Alpha has ordered you to come to his office." Madison looked over at Alessia and felt her wolf start to pace in her mind. There was still something about this girl that neither her nor her wolf liked.
Squaring her shoulders, she looked Alessia deep into her eyes. "You can tell him that I will be on my way. Better yet! How about I tell him this." Turning toward Tiffany, she smiled before hoping off of the bed and exiting the room.
Tiffany ran her eyes over Alessia and shook her head. "Still dressing like a skank I see?" She heard Alessia scuff and rolled her eyes.
"Better a skank than acting like a bitch. Tell me Tiffany, how long do you think Daniel will stay with you and proclaim you as his mate when you already deny him of the basic things he needs?"
Alessia watched as Tiffany's body tensed and smiled. She knew that there was no possible way that Tiffany would shift and attack her being as though she had no wolf and smiled even wider.
Although she was surprised that Tiffany didn't say anything in retort to her snide remarks, she was not going to miss the chance to bring Tiffany down a peg or two. Placing her hands on her hips, she cocked her head to the side.
"What Tiffany? Do you really think you can keep Daniel satisfied?" Taking her silence as her answer Alessia laughed. "Oh please. I'm sure he will be warming my bed in my couple of weeks, so don't be surprised when you hear it." Taking one last look at her, Alessia turned on her heels and walked out the room.
Tiffany watched as Alessia left and wondered what had gotten into her. Never in her life has she let someone talk to her crazy and here she was just moments ago allowing Alessia to degrade her.
And to make matters worse, she allowed her to basically say she would take her man right from under her nose. Oh no. That is not happening. Over my dead body.
Feeling the slight tug of her wolf, she hopped off of the bed and walked out of the room. She quickly found her way to Dante's office, sensing that is where Daniel would be, and stormed through the doors.
Ignoring the shocked stares she was receiving, she stomped toward Daniel, who was looking at her with confusion and stopped in front of him.
Standing on her tiptoes, she wrapped her hands around Daniel's neck, urging him to bend his head down.
Trailing her tongue over his bottom lip, she lightly tugged it in between her teeth and smiled when she heard his guttural groan. "Mine."
Daniel wrapped his hands around her small waist when he heard her claim him and picked her up off her toes. Looking into her eyes, he saw the slight swirling of amber and knew that her wolf was out. He wondered what had caused this, but welcomed it nevertheless.
Kissing her lips, he rubbed his scent against her, letting everyone in the room know his intentions. He heard her purr into his mouth and smiled. Releasing her lips, he looked into her eyes. "Yours. And nobody else's."
