Finding Meridian Ch. 20

Alex started crying and Logan looked confused, "Did I say something wrong? Please be my mate and wife. I don't want to do this without you. You have my heart, I love you Mon Coeur."

"It's a bit hard to say yes when our children are cheering you on in the background." Alex wiped the tears away as she looked at him, "Yes."

Logan slipped the ring onto her finger and slid into bed as he held her close. "I love you so much."

Marcus watched Meridian's body as it changed. It was not like a normal vampire changing. It was clear she would be a hybrid. He noticed a merlot streak of hair had grown down the right side of her almost white blonde hair. He had no idea what to expect. He finally started crying as he held her, "Mer, baby don't leave me. I'm selfish and want both of you in my life. Please don't go."

Meridian stirred and turned over noticing the IV in her arm, "I'm confused. I remember the speech. I remember going out to battle but nothing more."

"My Mer, you're ok. I love you. Is the baby?" Marcus choked up on the last word.

"Fine from what I can tell. The baby sounds fuzzy at times and hard to understand but I don't know if I'm supposed to be hearing our child speak." Meridian smiled at him and he noticed fangs come down. "So, I'm a vampire now? A vampire craving sardines, pickles and rocky road?"

"You're probably a hybrid and we don't know what you will need. So it's sardines, pickles and rocky road for now?" Marcus smiled as he rang the kitchen and ordered her food.

"Marcus Jr. said he'd humor me by letting me eat such a horrible combination."

"Marcus Jr.? It's a boy." Marcus froze looking at her stomach.

"Marcus Jr. said there is some other surprise but he won't tell us yet."

"It seems your son is as demanding as you are and has named himself."

Marcus put his head down on her abdomen. "I'm so proud of you Marcus Jr." Marcus laid there stroking her abdomen as staff brought up the snacks.

Drake stared down at Trinity as her face relaxed in her sleep. He pulled her close and felt her stir, "Trin baby, tell me you're ok."

"I'm tired, I don't remember some things. I remember chanting something and now I'm here. What happened?"

"It doesn't matter as long as you're healthy. The battle is over and despite some death and loss we did win. How is the baby?"

"She says she's fine dad. Wow, I can hear her now."

Drake pulled her close, "I love you so much. We can discuss things tomorrow. You rest."

Downstairs the upper echelon of Vampires, Weres, Witches and a rare group of Hybrids gathered in a large library. Alice had awoke during the battle and watched from the windows. She had found a file on slaves Cyrus was holding and after the battle ended, she had ordered guards to find the ones who were alive and set up separate quarters for their care and have the doctor come back and see her when done. The doctor and the herbalist attended to her wounds she had received upon getting the slaves settled.

Alice walked into the library to assist to the battle weary upper leaders. "I will call for drinks and food. I am afraid that we lost Tarrin during the battle. I am not completely familiar with particular dietary requirements for some of the groups. If you have an intermediary who could assist me we could get you served."

Each group called to a group member to meet her in the kitchen to assist preparing their feast.

After she left Reardan spoke first, "I know we have all lost valued individuals and we will mourn and honor them in the morning with your intermediary instructing each procession. For now I believe it is enough that we refuel and then rest. The Blue Priestess and Hermes have both encased the entire island in a protection spell so that everyone can rest easy."

An Ancient Witch looked at him, "Why couldn't we have just done that and avoided the battle?" She finally smiled and laughed. "I know the battle had to be fought and it would have delayed the inevitable."

"I honestly never thought such a thing would be seen. Such a uniting of individuals, as King I am proud to have been part of it."Douglas said.

"You hid behind the Blue Priestess before running into the Palace!" One of the Were leaders taunted and laughed with Douglas.

"I don't have any powers other than a neck strong enough to hold a 10 lb crown so hell yes I hid behind her. Have you seen her ass?"

A couple of the witches snorted, "Careful she could turn you into a toad."

Bantering went around the table as every feasted and laughed while drinking until finally everyone retired to bed.

Alice directed each of the leader's intermediary in the kitchen and headed to the basement to gather more supplies.

As Alice entered the basement one of the reclusive Ancient Vampire's grabbed her biting her neck. "You will be a worthy mate." Alice pushed at him until two Weres who had followed her down pulled him from her. He began to act odd and they hurried and locked him in a holding cell reinforced earlier by The Blue Priestess. One of the Were's ran upstairs seeing The Blue Priestess and requested her assistance.

The Blue Priestess looked the Vampire, "He shouldn't be acting that way after drinking her blood."

"Well, I was hurt during the battle and the herbalist gave me herbs and the doctor gave me medication. To be honest, I'm high as a kite right now."

The Blue Priestess pulled her into her arms smelling a mix of the drugs and herbs. She also smelled Reardan's scent in her blood. "Go get Reardan. She's still bleeding."

"It doesn't hurt. I'm fine."

The Blue Priestess started supporting her weight and lowered her to the floor as she became weak, "You should feel pain."

The guard rushed in whispering into Reardan's ear as he bolted from the table. He rushed to Alice and saw The Blue Priestess holding her neck. He was concerned seeing her body covered with blood.

"The Vampire bit her and didn't seal it."

Reardan cut his hand and held it to her neck. Alice's eyes began to flutter shut as he heard her heart beat slow down. "Come on Alice, stay awake for me little one." He noticed all her bruises as her shirt had risen. He automatically sensed she had internal bleeding. "Who the hell let her fight? Why the hell did that Vampire bite her? She should have been safe with my blood." He let out a deep breath and did something unprecedented; he cut his wrist and fed her blood. "Come on little Alice, drink my blood." Alice got some blood down her throat before she passed out.

Reardan and The Blue Priestess noticed that her heartbeat was stronger.

"Can you designate someone to organize the household while I take her for an ultrasound at the doctor? I'm not letting her go until she's well."

The Blue Priestess's head went back as she had a premonition. "She won't make it. Get a knife, I can sense her bleeding internally here and she won't make it to the doctor."

Reardan pulled a knife out of his side holster and cut Alice's abdomen seeing the blood seep out.

"I sense that's enough, now cut yourself and drip your blood in her wound."

Reardan knew giving her so much blood would weaken him but he was willing to risk it. Quinn rushed in and saw Reardan giving her blood again. "Is that wise?"

"It's the only thing that will save her from the internal bleeding." Reardan ran his hands over her body checking her for injuries. "Quinn, have one of the guards bring the doctor to my room and another bring her stuff to my room too."

"Sir, is that wise?"

The Blue Priestess left the room to take care of the others.

"Quinn, it's done. She needs me." Reardan rested his chin on her head inhaling deeply. "Damn it, it was the mix of drugs and herbs that caused him to bite her." Reardan pointed at the Vampire squirming in the cell.

"Sir, she's too young for you to take her to your bed."

"I'm not going to mate with a fucking comatose seventeen year old. Now do as I said Quinn!"

"Sorry Prime Alpha Reardan."

Reardan smacked Quinn lightly in the head, "Sometimes for such an intelligent Were the obvious misses you. I need to keep an eye on her."

Reardan carried her into his room and the doctor began to examine her. After he was confident she was safe and resting he left Quinn to watch over her.

"I will be back shortly but come get me if there is a problem."

Prime Alpha Reardan entered the large library and motioned for the rest of the reclusive Vampires to join him along with King Douglas. He explained the situation.

King Douglas spoke, "Normally the island would dictate his execution but I think because this was a mistake due to medication from the different doctors we should overlook it. Prime Alpha Reardan, are you fine with that decision?"

Reardan seemed to pace, "If she dies I will oppose the decision but for now I agree."
