Sitting down in the car, they closed their doors and drove off. We waved at each other and as they disappeared around the building, I realized that I didn't even think to get Wendy's phone number! Feeling like the idiot of the universe, I returned to my room and shut the door. I was so pissed off at myself that I didn't even notice a piece of paper on the coffee maker for several minutes.
When I discovered it, I rushed over and picked it up. It had both of their phone numbers on it and they had written "Call us anytime, Luv. XOXO"
Thanking my lucky stars, I put the paper in my wallet. It was then that I saw another note on the counter. I picked it up and read it.
"Want to join us for a glazed donut?" was on it and there was the name and address of a bakery I remembered driving past yesterday. I was out the door and driving toward the bakery in a matter of seconds.
That could be a great sales pitch, I thought as I drove along and pictured them both smiling as each held up a donut. "Donuts with dreams" was the splash across the screen on the television in my head.
Finally entering the pastry shop parking lot, I saw them sitting by the window. I knew that these two ladies were sweeter than any donut ever created, and I had just had my appetite whetted for more. I opened the door and walked in.
