"I understand, sir," James said stolidly. He was looking at his barber with newly opened eyes, and could only admire the man all the more.
As Antonio escorted James out the door to his waiting carriage, Antonio clapped his hand on James' shoulder, "But James, once you actually return from the ether, I think that even if you were to convert, no one would dare close a door on your future. Then we can have this discussion again!"
With a bounce in his step at the older man's pronouncement, James climbed into his waiting carriage.

How Utterly Delightful!!
Thank you dear lady for such a wonderful rendition. I've enjoyed the environs, morals and Characters of the story and was expecting to have to wait but am overjoyed! at seeing more writing sooner than could possibly be hoped. I apologize for not posting to each chapter but when time allows I will endeavour to do so.
Also, I do confess I found James predicament of being forced to bare his torso for Lady Benet and friends to be a just and proper reward for being such a man of good conduct in rescuing various damsels in distress. Or as my wife would say... No good deed goes unpunished ;)more...
