"Kitty, I wanted you to see our land, I wanted to show you my dream. I'm at the ranch and that's part of my dream. The other part is sharing it with someone. You're the one I want to share my dream with. I love you Kitty." I finished.
We sat close together, snuggled, kissed and just enjoyed being together. Then we rode back to the barn. After putting up the horses, we went in for dinner. The rest of the evening was spent in front of the fireplace. There was a feeling of peace sitting there with the three people that I loved the most.
I was in bed and sometime about 11:30, my door opened and a figure stepped into my bedroom. It was really dark and I couldn't really tell who it was. The moon came out from behind a cloud and the light showed me that it was Caitlyn.
She came to the bed, pulled back the covers and got in with me. I think she decided sharing my room was the best way to go.
****************************************************************************
Since then we have been sharing a room for the ten years of our marriage. My folks gave us a piece of the ranch about a mile from the main house as a wedding present. The property has a creek running through it at the base of a small hill and we built a house on the crest of that hill.
Dad and Mom made me a full partner in the ranch after two years. They said I deserved it because my ideas helped to increase the ranch income by thirty per cent.
My goals have been met. I got an education to help me work on my dream. The dream of working on the ranch has been achieved.
The final part of the dream has come true also, I married Caitlyn and we have three children.

Nice Romantic Story
And it had a happy ending, too. I guess. Both the women he got seriously involved with professed to love him and both proceeded to lay down conditions for carrying on a relationship with him. He walked away from them both, determined to live the life he had planned for many years. But in the end he crawled back to the first woman who dumped him, and ended up marrying her. And as it turned out, pretty much on the terms she had laid out for him toward the end of their first courtship. Oh well, as they say, "Life sucks, and then you die".more...
I like your Romances, well mostly.
Caitlyn comes across as a very selfish, self-entitled, self-centered female. She obviously liked playing the field and waiting for anyone was not in the cards. Additionally she didn't care enough to go with Drew so love wasn't enough for her.
All in all, a mostly unlikable female character. That the author forced them together is his privilege but it crippled any belief in true love between them and cast Drew as a future divorcee when Caitlyn decides to expand her horizons.
Sorry, just doesn't work for me.
Just My Opinion, YMMV

I'm glad he is home and working toward his goal
I'm not convinced about Kitty. I just have the nagging feeling that if she received an offer of a promotion which required her to move, she would.
The problem with most ranching/farming families is the need for more land. If the 400+ acres were optimal for one family, is it enough to support and sustain two? That is probably the reason why the other three sons found other occupations and moved on.more...
Again second reading
I think I am beginning to figure out what draws me to Woody's romantic stories. They tend to hit a nerve and memories of situations that occurred years ago in my life. That leads me into thinking about them and what if scenarios.more...
