Healer's Touch Ch. 09

"Yeah, and he put me in one hell of a spot." In his arms, Kat stirred. He ran a soothing hand down her back and settled her closer to him.

"Poor thing, I think I pushed her to hard today." Arianna replied.

"She doesn't have to take the lessons," Charles growled.

"One day she'll need the knowledge that I have to pass onto her, Charles. I won't be around forever. Besides that she is a good healer. She learns quickly."

As Arianna walked out of the meeting hall, she wasn't surprised when Stephan followed her. She had taken only a dozen steps before he spun her around and pressed her against the wall.

"Why the cold shoulder, minx?" he asked as he rubbed his thumb over her parted lips.

"Councillor Dean, let go of me."

"It's not going to work, Ari. There's no going back. You're mine now."

"Let go of me!" she hissed as she tried to wiggle out of his arms.

"No. Not until you talk to me and explain why you're acting this way."

"It's over, damn it."

"What's over?" he asked his gaze turning suspicious.

"Last night is over. Now that we've got that out of our systems I expect us to return to our former relationship."

"Oh really?" he asked. "And the fact that we woke up in each other's arms has no bearing?"

"It's done. It never could be more than one night," she cried as she jerked out of his arms and ran down the hall.

You'll never be out of my system anymore than I will be out of yours, minx

He watched as she stopped dead in her tracks. She looked over her shoulder at him.

"It's not over, Arianna. It'll never be over between us. You're mine!" he growled as he headed after her.

Arianna did something she had never done in her life. She lifted her robes and ran.
