THIS IS A NOVEL

70. Day Dreaming

Stephano was sitting by Patty's side, when he felt a hand touch his shoulder. He believed it was William, and stood up to give him his seat. As he turned, he thought he was dreaming; his parents standing there.

"Mom, Dad, what are you doing here?"

"Mister Free said he owed you a favor. I guess we are it."

"I had been hoping for a miracle, and this is one I never thought I would get to see. I hope I can have one more. I have tried everything I can think of to get Patty to come back to me. She will not listen to me, or anyone else. Her mother came to me in a dream. She said Patty was the smartest person she had ever known; she was even smarter than William. However, she was as stubborn as she was. She was also as insolent as William. When she and William mated, they brought into this world a wonderful little girl. She grew into a true beauty, but they also had a child that was as stubborn as a herd full of 'Mules.' Believe me dad; Patty is that and so much more. She made up her mind she wanted to die, when the men from the NSA came to kill her. Nothing I have tried, since that day has changed her mind. If I thought it would help, I would spank her again, but it wouldn't have any effect on her. I tell her a thousand times a day, I love her, and I miss her. I tell her I need her. I want to get married to her, and raise children with her. I want us to live happily ever after. She will not listen to me, because she wants a normal life. She no longer believes she can have one here on this earth."

Victoria Valentino embraced her son, who was obviously in pain. "I think you now know what Patricia felt like when you left her. You feel hollow inside; like a piece of you is missing, and you would give anything to have it back."

"Mom, you are right; but I don't need a lecture now. I want her back. Please tell me how to do it. I don't want to be without her."

"I wish I knew how, my son. It would give me the greatest pleasure to see both of you together again. Why don't you go to church? Go to confession; and ask God what to do. Maybe the Lord can help you, I cannot."

"Mom; William, and Jemma will be here soon. I will be back as soon as I can. Would you like me to bring you some food, when I come back?"

Victoria said no, but Bruno said, "If you can find a pizza place, get me a Sicilian pie, with anchovies, pepperoni, black olives, and peppers smothered with extra cheese."

"Bruno, it amazes me that you are still alive. Your arteries should have clogged up years ago, because of the kind of food you eat, when you are not at home. You should have had a heart attack and died years ago."

"Are you trying to get rid of me my dear?"

"Quite the opposite, I'm trying to keep you around. You are the one that seems to be bent on self-destruction."

"I will not eat celery and grassy things, just to get thin and make other people happy. I like my pasta, and my pizza. A cannoli every now and again never hurt anyone. Wine is the cure-all; as long as you drink enough of it, your arteries stay clear, and your mind stays strong."

"You may be right, Bruno; but it also leaves a certain part of you limp, and useless. It left me frustrated on many nights."

"You never said anything, Victoria."

"Would it have made any difference Bruno? You and your friends pushed us aside, until it was time to go home. Then you went to bed and fell asleep, with no thought of us."

"I wish you had spoken to me back then. I did love you, and I still do."

"I know Bruno, that's why I am still here."

William walked into the room, and said, "I thought I recognized your booming voice, Bruno. Hello Victoria, it's good to see you again."

Bruno replied, "Hello William; I want to thank you for sparing my son. Thank you for allowing him to marry your beautiful daughter. Let's put our heads together, and find a way to wake up this young lady."

"You're welcome Bruno. Any assistance you can offer, in awakening my daughter, will be greatly appreciated. Let me introduce you to my wife Jemma. She is carrying my son, and I am very happy and grateful to her for honoring me this way."

Jemma shook hands with Bruno and Victoria. She said, "Believe me, Mister Valentino, William made it quite pleasurable. I hardly did any work at all."

"Jemma, you are telling tales out of school. Remember: "Spare the rod, and Spoil the child."

"As you wish, daddy."

Victoria laughed, "Do you play that game often William? You shouldn't, because it makes you admit that you are twice her age, and you want to feel young for your child."

"Victoria, you remind me of my daughter. Like her, you are right, and I am wrong. I should not act my age, I should have acted her age, and made her pregnant with twins or triplets."

Jemma smacked him on his shoulder for getting too cocky.

Victoria walked over to Patty's bed, lowered the side rail, and kissed her. She sat beside Patty, and asked, "Baby girl, aren't you tired of sleeping? Aren't you tired of scaring everyone who loves you? If you wanted to lose weight, there are other ways to do it. Stephano is losing weight. He looks like a ghost. He doesn't leave your side, unless he is forced to do it. You have to make up your mind. Everyone here wants you to come back to us, safe and healthy. All your doctors say that you will be unscathed by this incident. There will be nothing wrong with you, when you return to us.

If you are so determined to leave us, and join your mother in death, do it. End our misery, because you are not being fair to us. Staying in limbo solves nothing. You said you wanted to die, because of what those people were doing to you. If you still feel that way, 'Die Already.' Instead of a having a beautiful wedding, where you are escorted down the aisle by your handsome father, and being watched by all your friends, your ashes will be in a small 6"x 6"x8" cube. Stephano, and your father will give short eulogies telling everyone how smart you were in life, and how they will miss you in death. They will sprinkle your ashes around your ranch and your horses will shit all over them. That will be your legacy Patty. You will become fertilizer, along with the horseshit. If that is what you want, 'DIE' and do it quickly. We want to get on with our lives, and we can't do it here, sitting by your side, in a hospital."

William was outraged by Victoria's soliloquy, and he said so. He challenged her for being so cruel and uncaring, about Patty's situation.

Victoria took him by the arm, and led him out of the room. "William, if you think I meant one word I said to her, you don't know me at all. I love your daughter, as if she was my own. I told you so, when we were at your villa. I hope she heard my speech, or at least part of it. I wanted to challenge her. I wanted to upset her. I want her back with Stephano, as soon as possible. If she leaves him, he will never be the same. He will be like a ship without a rudder. She has given him a purpose in life. You should have recognized the change in him by now. They are madly in love with one another. He will never be the same with anyone else. You found that kind of love with Laura. It took you more than 20 years to find another love to take her place. Thank goodness Jemma is a very big girl, because she had a very big hole in your heart to fill."

William took Victoria in his arms and apologized to her. "Victoria, I am at my wits end. I have to make a decision today about feeding her. She has lost 16 pounds and the doctors are pressing me for a decision. They want to operate on her in the morning and put a feeding tube in her stomach. Then they want to transfer her to a long-term care facility, because there is nothing more they can do for her here. As far as they are concerned, she is healthy. They do not know what will happen when she wakes up as far as the stroke is concerned, but that is a decision for another day. I don't want to put her in a warehouse, with other patients who are neglected by their doctors and families. What am I supposed to do with my Patty? I can buy her the best of everything, but I can't bring her back from wherever she is."

The red light flashed above the door on Patty's room. An announcement was made over the speaker system, "Code blue room 323; Code blue room 323; Code blue room 323.

William and Victoria were stunned. Patty's room number was 323, and they were standing outside of it. They could not understand what was wrong with Patty, because they did not hear any yelling going on inside. They ran in to the room to finding Bruno giving Patty 'CPR.' He had tilted her neck back, opened her mouth wide, and attempted to pull her tongue as far out of her mouth as he could, and was breathing into her mouth, and compressing her chest every few seconds.

William ran to the other side of the bed and started working on Patty's diaphragm, relieving Bruno of that job.

Seconds later, nurses ran in with the 'Crash Cart', and pushed them both away. They cut Patty's gown away, and told everyone to leave the room.

A doctor rushed in, followed by an intern, and another nurse, who closed the door behind her. They could hear the doctor giving orders to the staff members around him, and they worked on Patty relentlessly, for the next 16 minutes.

Doctor Nall and an x-ray technician, with her portable x-ray machine, came down the hallway next. Doctor Nall went in, the technician waited to be called. A few minutes later, the technician went in and the 'Crash Cart' team exited the room. The lead nurse said, "We got her back, and she's doing fine."

Victoria said, "William, I am not sure if that is a good thing or not. You have more than one decision to make today. Not only do you have to decide to feed Patty, you have to decide if you want them to continue saving her life. This may be an indication that she wants to leave us. If she does, you should sign a 'Do Not Resuscitate' order and let her go peacefully. You said you did not want to put her in a warehouse, this might be your only other option."

"I know Victoria, I have read the paperwork, and they even ask if you will donate the organs of your loved one. It seems heartless, but other people will live, because Patricia will die."

Doctor Nall walked out of the room, and stopped to talk with them. William introduced Stephano's parents to her, before she started talking. "Mister Zabo, you have to make a decision on whether to feed Patty, or not. You have to do it now, so we can schedule it for first thing in the morning. She nearly had a heart attack, because her electrolytes were so low. We will start giving her massive amounts of fluid's, containing the electrolytes, and other ingredients to keep her stable for the short term, to keep her from going into shock, again. If we don't start feeding her, she will have another attack, and that one could kill her."

"Doctor Nall, we have just been discussing that possibility. She has shown no signs of improvement since she got here. The coma is unchanged, everything remains unchanged. Should I sign a DNR, and let her go peacefully, or should I let the hospital send her to a long-term care facility, and hope that something will change in a year or two."

"Mister Zabo, I know what the hospital wants me to say, because they would get a financial benefit from it. In my heart I know what I would say, because I always hope for life as the outcome. However, your daughter's case has me stumped. She also has the best minds at Columbia, Johns Hopkins, and the Cleveland Clinic stumped. She should be doing laps in the swimming pool, instead of lying on that bed comatose. I know this is going to sound unconscionable, but when the family signs a DNR, the hospital requests permission to harvest the patient's organs for transplant. If you approve the request for organ harvesting, I would like to ask you for Patty's brain. I want to find out if I missed something. I want to know if I could have done something to save your daughter. I want to know, so the next time a young woman comes in here with these symptoms, I can help her, rather than walk around feeling useless."

"Doctor Nall, I am going to take this one step at a time. I will sign the document, allowing the hospital to do the surgery to feed Patty. I will give her a few weeks to show some improvement. If she does not, I will sign the DNR."

"That is a good course of action, Mister Zabo. It will give everyone time to adjust to the consequences of the situation."

"Doctor, no one must mention this to Stephano. He is having enough trouble dealing with this as it is. I do not want to see him break down. He will need his family around him, when the time comes to let Patty go."

"For the time being, Mister Zabo, I will only write up the orders for the feeding tube to be implanted tomorrow morning. Noone needs to know about the DNR, except you, and the staff attending her. It will be on her chart, but the nurses do not talk about it, or leave the chart lying around, for everyone to see."

"Thank you very much, Doctor."

Stephano did not take his car to the church. He wanted the exercise, so he decided to walk. It was a very nice afternoon and St. Francis was not that far away. He had to clear his mind. He had to be sharp and on his best game. William was going to be making decisions concerning Patty today. He had to put his best ideas forward and see if he could lead William in a direction both of them would be comfortable with.

Just in case that was not possible, he called Paul and asked to meet him at the ballpark, next to the church.

It took him less than 10 minutes to walk there, and teams were playing on all three fields. Paul and Rita arrived a few minutes after Stephano did. He laid out his plan for them. "Neither of you can get in trouble for what I am doing. You do not know that I am taking Patty out of the hospital illegally. You are working for me, and all you know is I am taking Patty home. She had been released from the hospital, because they decided there was nothing more they could do for her. They released her to me, and I am taking her home. Okay."

Rita said, "Don't you think they are going to look at us and say, 'Wasn't it a little irregular that your employer told you to do this at 2 AM?"

"Just tell them, 'Sir, you have never worked for Mister Valentino or Miss Parent.' You will get two dozen witnesses to back up that statement."

"Exactly how are you going to get her out of the hospital?"

"Hopefully, she will fit in an empty barrel."

"Stephano, you better hope she stays in a coma. If she wakes up, during this adventure, she will shoot you."

"In that case, the barrel will have worked. She will have woken up and I will be a very happy man."

"In that case, you will also be out of your fuck in mind. Paul, you go with him. Make sure he doesn't kill himself, or let Patty kill him. I'll fly to helicopter to the field, and you can fly it home."

"Are you getting a little ballsy, Rita? I know you are close, but you don't have your license, yet."

"It's less than 10 minutes from the Airpark to the ball field, Paul. There are city streets as guideposts all the way. I won't have any trouble flying there, you can count on it."

"Okay, Rita your first solo in a helicopter."

"I would say I'm going to break my cherry in a helicopter, but you already did that Paul."

"Too much information guys, let's stick to business. I'm going to rent a minivan for you, Paul. I will make the drop-off point for the van at the church. I will appropriate a couple of sets of greens, while I am in the hospital, and about 2 AM will make our move."

"Where are we going to get this barrel?"

"There should be a few empty barrels in the hospital's laundry area."

"It sounds like a good plan, Stephano; I hope it works."

"I have to get back to the hospital. If I stay any longer, they will think I am up to something."

"Do you see how well they know you?"

"Yes, I know, and I love them too. It's just that we are going to have a disagreement over how to take care of Patricia. I will not let anyone harm her."

"Then look at it like this Stephano. They are trying to save her life, the same thing you say you are trying to do."

"Yes, but I am not cutting any more holes in her."

"They are going to be feeding her through that hole."

"Whose side are you on?"

"I'm just playing the devil's advocate, Stephano."

"Rita, you and Patty are going to have a lot of fun together; you both have the devil in you."

Paul said, "I have been telling her that for years.

"Darling, you are getting very close to zero."

Stephano looked at them and asked, "Is that a code between you two?"

Rita replied, "Yes it is. It is a warning about his fuel status, and he could be running out anytime."

"I'm sorry, I must've missed something."

"No Stephano, not you, but if he keeps it up, he certainly will miss something, an awful lot."

"Oh, I'm sorry, Paul, I understand that type of message very clearly. Patty told me Sunday, she was going on strike, because of a rules violation. I told her I was turning my facility into a nonunion shop. She said it didn't matter, because I still wasn't getting any, regardless of my affiliation with her."

Paul told Stephano that women always had the upper hand. Their only problem was they were always hornier than their men were

Stephano laughed, as Paul started running away from Rita. She was yelling at him, but Stephano knew it was all in fun.

Stephano said, "Alright you two; stop that right now. Here is the key to my hotel room. Have fun, I will call you, before I return this evening."

Rita kissed him, grabbed her husband's hand, and raced to their car. Paul tried to look calm, but finally his libido took over. He ran at full speed, and reached the car first. When Rita got there, their car was started; he had it in gear, and it was ready to go. As soon as her ass hit the seat, and before she closed the door, he pressed down on the accelerator, spun the tires, and was off like a rocket. Rita screamed as the door slammed shut by the force of the forward thrust of the car. He would continue to thrust, while he was in bed with his wife, but not at such an irregular pace. He got Rita primed and ready to fire, and backed off until she cooled down. He would speed up again and back off at the last second.

Rita screamed, "If you don't let me cum, the next time you pilot that helicopter, you are going to be a girl."

Paul had heard this threat many times during their marriage. He knew it was time for a change in tactics. He pulled out of her and she screamed, "You prick, put that back in me."

"As you said, dear, it is my dick, and I will do with it as I please."

"I will kill you for this."

Paul flipped Rita over, onto her stomach, put his hands under her thighs, and raised her pussy to his mouth. He began feasting on it, from her clit to her vaginal opening, where his tongue dove deep inside of her. When his mouth returned to her clit, he forced three fingers into her cunt, and pumped them in and out, like a dildo.

Rita's hips were moving at breakneck speed, and she could feel herself getting ready to cum again. She was not going to tell him this time. She was not going to let him stop just before she went over the edge. She needed this, she needed to cum desperately, and her bastard husband knew it. He knew her body too well.

Paul felt the tension in her legs growing, and her powerful thighs trying to strangle him. He moved his tongue away from her clit and his fingers away from her cunt, and stood up straight taking her with him.
