I wanted to crawl into a hole and never come out. Instead, I did what I had to do...I walked over and stood beside Jim.
"Yes, Jim Parker...I see you've already met LoreLai," he said with a proud smile, giving me an affectionate squeeze.
"Yes, we just finished having a...meeting. So, how are you two related?"
"Oh, didn't you tell him, honey?" Jim asked me.
"I, uh, didn't, umm, get around to it," I stammered.
"She's so absent-minded! LoreLai, of course, is my wife."
"Of course," Tom said, smiling at me.
From the way Tom smiled, a mix of mischief and surprise on his face, I knew I was in for it.
