"Fuck," I whisper. It's not a dream I'm really here and as I glance at the electric clock on my desk I see it's three AM.
I'm thirsty. The mini fridge Jilly placed between our desks has nothing in it when I open it, I remember that there are soda machines in the downstairs lobby. Walking to the front door I see my old purse dangling from a hook, I laugh softly to myself never thinking I would see that old rag again. Digging inside it I find a dollar bill and I unlock our door carefully trying to navigate the stairs leading to the lower lobby.
I grin in triumph as I see the machine in all its glory, I remembered something real at least. Choosing a coke I reach down and grab it, popping the top and taking a long swig before I turn around and step right into someone.
"Oh great," I moan spilling my coke on both myself and the person in front of me.
I look up at the person just as they are looking down at their chest.
"I'm sorry."
At my words I see the face of my dreams looking back at me. My fingers are suddenly nerveless and I drop my coke can completely. I know that I'm staring, open mouthed at the man in front of me.
He smiles at me. "It's ok."
"I know you." I whisper caught once again in those emerald eyes. My heart stops, time stops.
"Do you?" He whispers back arching one black brow.
Without thinking of how odd it may seem I reach out and wrap my arms around him pressing into his now coke stained white t-shirt. I close my eyes and inhale, he smells the same, like the ocean and he feels so right in my arms.
I remember his final words to me before my world went black. This is love.
I feel his arms come up around me. He holds me for another moment before he pulls away slightly. "Are you ok?"
I meet his eyes and I know.
Without another word I reach up on my toes and kiss his lips moaning in pleasure as I feel him return my kiss. This is my second chance, somehow my angel sent me back, he was there all along waiting for me. I wasn't going to waste it.
