Impressive Miss Jones

Oh dear, how pedestrian.

Satin finally rolled on to him and inserted his dick and she began banging him and Max awoke to the fact this was a fuck and began moving. On and on it went, with no variation, as if Max had been tutored by his mom, and finally Satin felt compelled to end it and said in a very sultry voice should she jam a wet finger up his butt.

Max gasped and creamed heavily judging by the inflated end of the condom he pulled off. He didn't appear aware Satin hadn't gotten off and so was ordered to roll on a fresh condom.

On Monday morning when they drove off to return to Chicago, he asked had she enjoyed the weekend.

"Yes very much thanks. The accommodation was great, the service fine and I particularly enjoyed the tennis and the swimming and dancing with you at the dinner-dance."

"And the sex?"

Satin answered honestly and said that was okay.

"Only okay?"

"Yes," she said, repeating it was okay.

Satin noticed Max looked shocked.

They never dated again simply because he never again called her for a date.

Meanwhile Satin devoted her time to working, studying, sleeping and doing housework, only half expecting Max to call. She thought he'd be miffed with her and would choose to find someone who looked up to him. God and men thought females were vain.

Seven months late Satin saw Max again at Lucinda and Lance's wedding but they only exchanged greetings. He was accompanied by a woman holding him tightly be the arm and she looked mousy, well perhaps rather a lot better than mousy.

While Satin's selling partner Lucinda was on a six-week European tour with her fiancé and his family, Satin was contacted by an American-born Chinese couple and his mother who were interested in buying a prestigious condo. Having a hunch these people really meant prestige, Satin took them to her company's penthouse on East Lake Shore Drive that had been lying unoccupied for nineteen months awaiting finishing instructions from the buyers.

It was one of those sales every broker dreams about. The woman whispered into her husband's ear, the husband said something to his mother and she nodded. Satin was told yes, they'd take the 9-room condo at the asking prices of $4,036,000 and their attorney would contact Satin within the hour to finalize details.

When the transaction completed, Satin's boss, Lucy Holmes, director of sales and marketing, organized a late Friday afternoon cocktail party for sales and marketing people to mark the record $4 million sale for the company and also to mark Satin's success in gaining her MBA.

It was like a dream come true for Satin, recognition from her peers on her achievements. She'd decided her time had come to leave sales and told Lucy, who didn't seem surprised.

"You have achieved all that's possible in your selling career apart from becoming the top income-earner for a broker in Chicago," Lucy said.

"Yes, since I first came to Chicago my life has become almost a fairy tale," Satin smiled. "I owe my success to your belief in me and you pushing me."

At the function the two women practically repeated those words in short speeches, with Lucy saying, "All I did was to recognized Satin's potential and to open doors for her. And out of Satin emerged extraordinary talent."

Satin couldn't help noticing how all the sales team responded so openly when clapping as she was presented with the Salesperson of the Month Award and then with a $5000 bonus for setting a record condo sales price result for the company. She saw no sign of jealousy and accepted the reason for that was everyone now recognized she was the company's top salesperson because of merit, rather than because she was being handed golden opportunities.

There had been no restriction on who could show buyers that East Lake Shore Drive penthouse. All of them had been in with an equal chance and they knew it. It was Satin who fronted up with the buyers.

As Satin was personally congratulated by the last of the team leaving the function, Lucy said to Satin, "Come on darling, the boss wishes to see you."

Howard Hosking sprang out of his chair when Lucy knocked and entered the office along with Satin.

"Here she is Howard, our young woman of the hour."

Howard kissed them both and said, "Please sit. Satin this is a serious meeting. Lucy made me aware a year ago you had not signed a new contract at the expiration of our two-year deal with you and told me to leave it, that you would be going nowhere so long as you were consumed with your studies. Now I must congratulate you for gaining an MBA."

"Thanks Howard."

"That must have meant a long haul for you with your undergraduate degree not being a business degree."

"It was a little but I hired a coach when I felt the need."

"Excellent thinking. I'm all for good decision-makers. So my dear, what will keep you here? It's my guess you feel you time in sales is coming to a need."

"That's very astute of you."

"Thanks but to be truthful, Lucy briefed me. She knows you well and suggests a tempting offer in corporate governance probably would be accepted."

"Yes. It's the logical next step and I've prepared for it academically."

Eyeing Satin closely, Howard said, "This is the offer: you take up the position of assistant chief operations officer to James Gilbert who'll retire from that position in seven months. That will give you a good practical grounding about how this company operates. James was an assistant professor before he came here and will accelerate your development. That is the best we can do at the moment."

"That sounds very appealing."

"Excellent and now comes the carrot. Providing your performance meets our expectations in seven months, you are likely to be appointed chief operations officer. My son Dean, who at present is chief financial officer, will succeed CEO Rupert Fisher who will revert to being chief financial officer. At the same time Rupert will become an executive director on the board, replacing James, and will retire twelve months after that when an outside applicant will be appointed CFO.

"Um isn't that taking a big risk with me on the basic of lacks of governance experience and knowledge? For instance I know only about the basics of construction."

Howard smiled and said, "That is very honest of you and that basically is all you need to know because as COO you would have a line of managers with various responsibilities. The job of our top team is to hold everything together, facilitate everything to operate smoothly, to know what's going on and organize funding, it's delivery to the right place at the right time and to bring every department to account. Your MBA education would have taught you that in detail. We have a huge contracts department that proposes projects, seeks board and executive approval and that department, over which the COO has control as a senior vice-president, lets contracts and administers projects, is responsible for keeping them running smoothly and responsible for dealing with all problems."

"You make it sound almost simple."

"Well Satin, the company my late father founded in 1955 that became the base of this corporation has been in business a long time and its internal systems have been developed and refined many times and we place people into key positions who have clear understanding of their responsibilities. Lucy and I have identified you as a person with exceptional qualities including an amazing capacity to adapt. Believe me young lady, we know what we are doing."

"Wow and I must say all this sounds very exciting and paints the steps to take my career forward Howard. I accept the officer to become assistant chief operations officer."

"Excellent and congratulations. Please take up your new role as soon as you are free to leave your present position with minimal disruption. Arrange a meeting tomorrow with James Gilbert to discuss salary and other job conditions and begin discussions on your contract. That's all."

When Satin stood to leave, Lucy stood and kissed her and offered her congratulations.

As Satin left she heard Lucy lock the office door and grinned. That suggested Lucy and Howard were about to become intimate.

CHAPTER 3

Satin had looked up details about Howard Hosking's son Dean on the company's website and found he had a Bachelor in Corporate Finance and an MBA. He was thirty-one and was married to Julia with no children and judging by the photograph was a good looking long-haired streaky blond.

She had just moved up to the top executive floor and was to share an office with James' PA but after James experienced her vibrant personality and desire to upgrade her business knowledge in the real world at their preliminary meetings, he had the accommodation requisition for Satin's placement switched to share his office, much to the relief of Jane his elderly PA.

James took her around the floor to meet other corporate executives and their assistants. As they went to enter Dean's office Satin said, "His wife's name is Julia isn't it?"

"Christ don't mention her name. She's just divorced Dean to live with this older woman she works with and has become infatuated with?"

"Omigod James, you've saved my hide."

"Either that or you should be congratulating yourself for being prudent enough to request a name update."

She giggled and said they should settle on a 50-50 tie and he obviously liked her suggestion.

"We are already getting along together very well," he grinned. "And that's despite me being old enough to be your grandfather."

"Or my father."

He grinned and they entered the office and Dean said, "Oh the recent graduate who already is almost one of our executives."

"Now don't by churlish Dean. I just might not fit the dumb blonde imagine and might turn out a real surprise to you. If not I'll have the good sense to ride off into the night."

Both men looked at her thoughtfully and Dean decided to have another crack.

"Calling me churlish is very rude."

"Look at it this way Dean, if the label missed it's mark you'll know its untrue."

"Dean," James said quietly and pulled a finger across his own throat.

Dean sighed and said, "Yes churlish and I apologize. I've..."

"Apology accepted and you'll like me once you get to know me Dean so might I say it's nice meeting you, we will get on well together and I promise you that. We'll now leave you in peace."

"May I take you to dinner on Saturday?"

"Yes of course providing you promise not to verbally abuse me."

"What? Oh yes of course. I'll meet you in the lobby of Albion Tower at 8:00 for a short walk to The Clarion."

"I'm surprised you know my address."

He smiled and said, "My father couldn't stop talking about you to me over lunch on Sunday. On the strength of that I looked up your page on our website and got access to your CV via our HR manager and she kindly mentioned where you resided."

"You have the kind of brain I like," Satin smiled. "Come on James, let's continue the tour. I feel I have been a little too much for Dean."

"Bye and thanks for dropping in Satin. Oh and you too James."

As they walked off James said, "You had poor Dean not knowing whether he was coming or going."

"Yeah well he's coming through a tough patch personally. Take that into consideration James."

James chuckled, "You have the kind of brain I like."

Back at their office James handed Satin what he said was her required reading list of four textbooks and two autobiographies.

"You'll learn things from me as we go relating to day to day management including problem-solving. These books are the icing on the cake, providing very relevant information and information that might come to your assistance when the unexpected happens. As with all reading, much of it will be irrelevant but who can be the judge at your stage in business life what is irrelevant?"

"I understand and will read as you would expect a good student to read when you were an academic."

Although Satin had been troubled to find she was the youngest management senior assistant by some years, she was relieved when looking up their profiles that the oldest of them was only eleven years her senior. That didn't make the age span look too bad for the new kid on the block.

On Saturday night she came out of the elevator to find Dean hovering, dressed in a snappy cream suit and a light green unbuttoned business shirt, well the top three buttons were undone. He looked rather cool and she was pleased he wasn't wearing anything around his neck, especially a medallion on a leather tie that guys unsure of their masculinity favor.

Dean's gaze snapped into second focus as he saw her. She deduced the first glance was one of recognition and the second and longer one was the 'oh Jesus' or perhaps just a polite 'wow' glance.

She was jammed into a tiered white lace tiered tank top mini dress.

The décor of the restaurant was splendid and the food impressive. But for Satin, it was a pity about her date. Dean bordered almost on rudeness in general conversation and only fired up when he began speaking, without any encouragement from Satin, about his horrible six years of marriage and she was almost on the verge of walking out on him when he stopped to call over their waitress to complain about his steak.

At the entrance to Albion Tower, Dean said lamely, he still felt unfit to socialize and Satin smiled thinly and said she'd gathered that.

"Sorry," he said, turning and walking away.

She regarded it as unwise to call him back.

Just days earlier, Satin had shifted from her reasonably spacious alcove studio to a one bedroom apartment with office containing a couch that converted into a stay over bed. Earlier that evening before going out she'd wondered if Dean would elect to stay late or even stay over, but not to be.

She switched on her phone and found a message from James Gilbert. What the hell did he want? She sighed and thought well he could wait till morning. Perhaps he required her to go to the office on Sunday.

"Jesus men work at trying to mess up your life," she snarled and burst into tears.

Yes Satin Jones who everyone thought she had everything and was doing ever so well, was lonely... desperately lonely. Well she was that way right now. She went to bed and began drinking a glass of milk while flicking channels.

Satin awoke to a bright, sunny morning and felt heaps better. She showed and walked into the kitchen weaning just bra and panties to prepare breakfast.

It was the same breakfast she always ate when alone, and that was nearly all the time. She made a banana and nut smoothie and then had a piece of wholegrain toast with a smear of sugar-reduced jam and green tea.

Well she was now ready to go to the office and called James.

"Oh hi Satin, thanks for calling back. It's a lovely morning."

"Indeed with a touch of summer I believe."

"Just a minute I'll get my wife Hannah.

Satin, close to panic, thought God they were about to invite her to accompany them to church.

"Oh good morning Miss Jones, Hannah Gilbert speaking and please call me Hannah. I asked James last evening over dinner what you were like and he said why don't I invite you to lunch today and find out, that is if you can accept my invitation."

"Oh that's lovely of you Hannah. Please call me Satin."

"Ah such a sweet name and something tells me you will accept."

Satin thought oh dickety-doo, the woman sounded so nice that she better accept.

"Yes Hannah, you are ever so persuasive. I have nothing else planned and I would be delighted to have lunch with you and James."

"Oh and also there will be our two married daughters and families and one of our sons. The kids come to Sunday lunch whenever they can."

The call ended with Satin thinking oh god, she'd been set-up with a cunning plan for her to meet their 40-year old and thrice-divorced son who needed a new woman to get his teeth into it. Oh why had she told Hannah she had nothing else planned... they would keep here there trapped till dark.

Satin pulled on old jeans and an old sweatshirt to ensure she looked frumpy and was pulling on lipstick when she thought no she'd gotten this all wrong. A woman who sounded as nice as Hannah would not operate like that. She truly wanted to meet Satin and couldn't care if Satin noticed the 40-year old or not or the screaming kids and the two daughters who would be wondering whether their father was having it off with Satin.

She ripped off her clothes and set about dressing to impress Hannah to become Hannah's youngest friend. They'd bound to meet socially because Satin was being groomed by her husband to take over his current position within the company.

Satin barely recognized James when he answered the door bell. He was dress in a polo shirt and dress jeans and loafers.

"Hi," he said. "Do we kiss... people at the office are talking."

"Yes a kiss and a full hug please."

When that was done he said, "You look dressed to impress, just as I was hoping you'd be."

"Oh hooray, I've done something to appeal to the boss."

He smiled and said, "Come on, I have absolute faith in you at the office, and now it's time to can such talk."

"Listen, this is a setup. I believe I told my wife too much about how you impressed me and she's beside herself wanting to introduce you to our youngest son who's your age."

"My age? But you're ... I mean... um..."

"Three of our kids are a little older than you but Chris came along when we thought our time for kids was over. Does that explain things?"

"Oh yes and I'll play along with Hannah, er within reason."

"Thanks Satin, I was confident you'd come through for me. After today there will be no pressure for you to relate to us as a family."

"I understand and that's fine. I was looking for some company today anyway. I do hope I'll fit in."

"You will."

They went straight through the house and into a courtyard where the family was seated and they all focused on her and smiled, even the two kids who looked about ten.

"Oh my dear, you look ever so lovely," said a pleasant-faced woman who came from the table to welcome her.

"Oh hi, which one of the daughters are you?" said Satin, now wishing she'd dressed more conservatively than a sun dress that showed far too much breast top and leg.

"Oh darling, am I going to love you," laughed Hannah, and hugged her guest. "Now please relax and give James you cocktail order."

"A dry white wine if available thanks James."

"Your request can be met. Isn't she a peach Hannah?"

"She certainly is."

Hannah then introduced Satin to Jess and her husband Mike and son Anthony and second daughter Michele and her husband Dennis and their daughter Paula.

"Oh and here's our baby of the family Cody just arriving."

Cody looked a lot like his mom which was quite plain and was built like a fighting marine. Was he in the military?

"Hi Cody."

"Hi Miss Jones."

"Please call me Satin and you may kiss me if you wish. Your brothers-in-law and sisters did."

"Those guys would," Cody grinned and dropped a kiss on Satin's right cheek. What do you work at Satin?"

"I work with your father."

"Oh his PA?"

"Something like that."

His mom called, "Satin takes over from your father at the end of January.

"What you?" Cody said in surprise.

"Yes Cody. These days girls can do anything, even blondes."

The look on Cody's face had all the adults laughing and Jess and Michele clapping in delight.

"Is that true dad?"

"Yes Cody. Satin already has notched up a brilliant career, has an MBA and has become the company's highest producing salesperson ever."

"Well if you are that smart Satin perhaps you might like to suggest why my business that ought to be successful is performing disappointingly at the bottom line."

"What kind of business is it?" she asked, as James handed her a glass of white wine and his son a light beer.
