JACKL Inc. Ch. 00 - Prologue

Author's Note

I'm posting this prologue as a guide for readers new to primarily my older work. It's a pretty big ask to expect readers to go back and read a novel to understand a lot of story, lore, characters and details. I hope this helps to set the stage. A special thank you to Pope1944 for reading and editing, as well as encouraging this prologue.

I will also confess I used some artistic license with my own work, as I began writing new chapters. Readers may find some discrepancies in the story if you go back and read the original source. Parts can be explained away as the characters having a poor understanding of their own powers, but some older chapters are definitely in need of some retroactive continuity.

The spirit of this prologue is to help knit two stories together to allow them to blend more seamlessly going forward. My style has evolved to write sections for different characters points of view, thinking their thoughts, seeing what they see. No two people see the same event the same way, or draw the same conclusions.

It's my hope that my writing evokes a certain amount of curiosity that would encourage readers to read the original series. This prologue hopefully will satisfy amazing readers that I wasn't able to capture their curiosity enough read older stories, but will enjoy my tales as we continue down this new path.

Specializing in Fae - Mundane relations, JACKL Inc. was formed in San Diego in the fall of 2016. In the mundane human world, they are listed as a privately held company that is investing in property improvements throughout the metropolitan area. In the parallel world of the fae, they are working with a network of light fae creatures to improve human-fae relationships. They are also very dedicated to freeing recycled fae that are unable to be reborn, trapped in their mundane forms.

The JACKL Inc. series is a combination of two original story lines:

- The Designer in the Mind Control category and has 48 chapters.

- Once Bitten in the Sci-Fi & Fantasy category with 8 chapters.

This series will be splitting time between the past and the present day.

Past: Picks up at the end of the Designer series. This period will detail the start of JACKL Inc. in San Diego with the arrival of the polyamorous Jackson family. They will explore and discover the fae makeup of the area and meet some new characters. As Jeremiah and company start working along the light fae path. In this timeline the younger generation are just out of high school, and some are starting college their coming of age stories will continue.

Present: The addition of Rick into the JACKL business, and picking up where Once Bitten left off. Rick needs to determine the nature of his relationships with fae and human lovers. Rick will discover how fits in the JACKL organization and among the larger fae community, including the polyamorous Jackson family. In the present the younger generation are four years older, nearing college graduation age and maturity (or not)

The characters and themes in both series are original and created by HankDolworth.

Story Summaries

The Designer (1-17)- Original Series (July 2012)

This first part is told mostly as a memory by Jeremiah. Looking back to a fateful night while he was in college in the late-80s. It tells the story of how Jeremiah discovered his powers that can mold other's moral curves and self-control. His first rash use of his power had a drastic effect on Kelly and Lexi, who were left in an amoral state and tended to seek pleasure.

Not knowing exactly what his powers had done, Jeremiah had to leave to return to his hometown school. He asked Carmen, a friend and neighbor to Kelly and Lexi to help look after them when he left. Overcome by the realization of what he had done, he confessed his actions to his best friend Alyssa. Alyssa considered herself a lesbian, and Jeremiah her best friend. To help him she applied some science to his supernatural powers. Together using the results of their research they came up with a plan to fix Kelly and Lexi. During the experiments, Alyssa declared her love to Jeremiah, but was unable to express it due to her identity as a lesbain. Jeremiah adjusted her to see what would happen. It ended up allowing Alyssa to express her love to Jeremiah.

The five of them met halfway in-between their respective colleges in-order for Jeremiah to adjust Kelly and Lexi back the way they were. In the week since, the pair and Carmen had almost continuous sex, only pausing to eat food. While at the hotel the five of them engaged in a lot of sex, as they reunited. Jeremiah was able to restore Kelly and Lexi to a normal morality. In fixing them and adjusting Carmen to heal an old heartache, Jeremiah and Alyssa were enmeshed with all them.

Alyssa discovered she could push her thoughts to others, they could communicate using a rudimentary telepathy. The whole experience bound the five lovers into one family. They pledged to move in together by the end of the term. Kelly moved down early having finished with her classes. Jeremiah declares his love for Aly and asks her to marry him. Carmen and Lexi move in after school is over. The first part ends with Jeremiah closing his document, having recalled over 20 years later how his family was formed. All five of the lovers are still together.

The Designer - Part two (The story continues- 27 chapters)

Part two starts where part one ends. It is told through a series of varying viewpoints and shifts in time. It explores in three different times:

Present - The time where Jeremiah originally started writing. His family now includes; Zac his eighteen year son with Kelly is a high school senior, Naomi his five year old daughter with Alyssa, and his mother-in-law, Betsy - Kelly's mother. This story focuses on Zac as he develops his own powers similar to his father and mother (Kelly). The changes in Zac's life ripple through the adult relationships as they try to reconcile how to raise a child with supernatural powers that can positively or negatively affect others. We are also introduced to new characters in Zac's circle, Beth, Shannon, Brooke, and their History teacher Megan. This timeline ends as Zac's powers continue to grow and new relationships begin to form.

Past - This picks up in the past when the five main characters, Jeremiah, Alyssa, Carman, Kelly and Lexi first move in and start their life together. After discovering Kelly is pregnant, Jeremiah switched his marriage proposal to Kelly. Due to her being pregnant with his child, he proposes that all five form a polyamorous family, bound together.

Through a series of revelations, dreams, records and documents from Jeremiah's deceased father they realize their lives were already entwined before they met. Supernatural powers seemingly flow genetically through not only Jeremiah, but Alyssa and Kelly as well.

They discover the corrupting influence of a strange cult (the United Priesthood) that their relatives had been fighting against, and they are determined to continue the fight until it is won.

They also grow stronger bonds with each other as they find out how to combine their powers to push back against dark forces, and strengthen their own love. They rescue Kelly's friend Jenn from impending sexual slavery, and for a time she is part of their mental mesh.

Part two ends with Jeremiah and Kelly's wedding and the knowledge that their family of five will soon expand.

Distant Past - these vignettes included first hand accounts from Jeremiah's father, Kelly's mother and grandmother, and other characters. These stories give perspective to how each character understands themselves, how biases are formed and misunderstood and how truth is often a mix of myth and fact.

The three timelines are explored using different perspectives and points of view. Sometimes consistent and also misunderstood. The pursuit of truth is messy business. But if you are surrounded by people that love you, the ties that bind us are stronger than the darkness.

The Designer Part Three (circa 2016)

The final chapters of The Designer deal with the combining of two generations of characters into one family. Isaac (Zac) has enthralled four women on the last day of school. One of the women, Megan, is a crush of Jeremiah's slave, Lexi. The combination of the two families occurs with some help of Alyssa and Jeremiah's powers. As they start to discover how this larger family operates, they are visited by a enigmatic character, Naeme. Naeme an ancient tree nymph fae can sense the true natures of the family. Telling them of their true fae nature, which challenges their knowledge of themselves.

A series of events occur that test the relationships of the family, as well as change how the family is constructed. They work through their discoveries of themselves and their nature. Reaching a tipping point within their relationships and external friends and relatives, they decide to move to San Diego to get a new start. They arrived in San Diego late Summer after Zac and his friends graduated from high school.

Once Bitten (Present Day - San Diego)

A completely new story set in the present time focusing on the rebirth of an incubus fae named Tom. A magical bite from Sammi (a water nymph) unlocks his true fae nature, and he is reborn into a fully fae incubus. He feeds off of human sexual energy. Taking on the new name of Rick, in a new mundane form. Rick's new appearance is supernaturally handsome. Alluring to female humans by looks alone, Rick can also emit pheromones to help lure them into his arms. His past lives as a fae tend towards a dark fae nature, but with Sammi as his guide, he seeks to live this incarnation as a light fae, and help free humans to live better lives. This will be quite a challenge for a powerful incubus that needs sexual energy to exist.

Character Sketches

To help with new readers to my work, I've drafted some brief character sketches. These original characters were developed in the series indicated below. To discover more about them, please read their original series.

From: The Designer - Original series

Jeremiah - Halfling

Jeremiah is the patriarch of a polyamorous family of fae, halflings and humans that span two generations. His mind molding powers that can instantly adjust morality curves and alter a human's self-control. His understanding of how the curves operate within the human psyche gives him the ability to sense thoughts and emotions. He is in his fifties physically. By living with and around fae magick, he appears to be early to mid-forties. He is in good physical shape and attractive to human and fae alike.

Alyssa - Fae (unknown type)

Alyssa is fae, but has a human appearance. She is bi-sexual with a strong attraction to females, but loves Jeremiah as her soul mate. As this story begins, Alyssa hasn't discovered what type of Fae she is, but she knows she is fae of some type. In addition to common fae powers, like teleportation, Alyssa has broad psychic powers, including telekinesis, shape-shifting powers, and telepathic communication. She operates an open mesh of thoughts with all of the family, and can control access to the mesh.

Kelly - Fae (succubus)

Kelly is married to Jeremiah in the mundane human world. They live polyamorously with everyone in their family. Kelly is a fae succubus, she needs and feeds off of sexual energy. She has a demonic form that she has suppressed due to a misunderstanding of her monstrous appearance and powers which can be fatal to humans. In fae form as a succubus she can rapidly drain a human life force in addition to feeding off sexual energy. She is most comfortable in her mundane form where she is supernaturally alluring, and can cause irresistible attraction and arousal. Her presence is beneficial physically to humans who live in close proximity.

Alexis (Lexi) - Fae (kisune - fox shapeshifter)

Lexi is a masochist submissive, who is in service to Jeremiah. She sometimes wears a silver collar to signify this special connection. She is an elite human athlete in prime physical condition, often training for triathlons. Her new fae powers allow her to shift between a full fox form, a fox-human anamorph, or fully human. She can also become invisible, and transport as most fae do. She is curious and also enjoys playing tricks. She has strong attachments to her prime family of Jeremiah, Kelly, Aly and Carmen, and has a strong attraction to Megan and Brooke in the younger family.

Carmen - Human

A service submissive to Jeremiah and the polyamorous family as a whole. Carmen is completely mundane, but has a strong sexual drive and is bisexual. She is outspoken, and can top in sexual situations. She is at heart a submissive, and her dominant Master is Jeremiah, with Aly and Kelly as mistresses. Her desire to serve her family includes their human friends. She has no children.

Leah - Fae (unknown)

Leah was hired to be a nanny to Naomi, and fell under the influence of Zac's Incubus allure. After Zac's awakening she connects with Alyssa and is linked to the original family's mental mesh. She didn't know she was fae until the incident when Naomi and herself were dragged through a teleportation by Kelly. She aged an estimated five years physically, making her roughly the same age as Megan. She discovered her fae powers were like Alyssa's and works closely with her.

Isaac (Zac) - Halfling

The halfling son of Kelly and Jeremiah, he has developed powers consistent with his parents. He is an incubus from his mother's side, but only exhibits her mundane powers, he has no fae form. He has mind-molding powers exactly like his father. His supernatural allure, and the ability to shape moral curves, is a potent mix. Without careful attention he can (and has) modified people to become sexual partners.

Beth - Human

Zac's girlfriend and soul mate. She is happily polyamorous and open to exploring her sexuality with everyone in the family. She is loyal and can be depended on to help wherever she can. Her strong sex drive is bisexual, but has a devotion to Zac as her primary partner. She developed strong friendships with Shannon and Brooke before they were all enthralled by Zac along with their teacher Megan on the last day of high school.

Megan - Human

Was a school teacher, but left that profession after being enthralled by Zac. She is happy in her new family, and works for Alyssa in researching Fae through historical records and lore. She is bisexual by nature, and always ready for any sexual connection in the expanded polyamorous family. She is strikingly attractive with auburn hair which is light enough to sometimes be considered a honey colored blonde.

Shannon - Human

Zac's classmate, she was enthralled to Zac at the same time as Brooke and Megan. She is studying History and Genetics at SDSU and is an assistant to Alyssa in her research. She is bisexual and is attracted to all of her family. She shares a close relationship to Alyssa and Leah, and also has a strong attraction to Jeremiah and Zac. While almost as alluring as Kelly, she also is highly intelligent, which aligns her more often with Alyssa while doing her research.

Brooke - Fae (dryad - tree nymph)

Zac's classmate, and a foster child of Naeme. She grew up exposed to Fae ideals, but never believed the tall tales. After being enthralled by Zac, and enjoying a mind-altering orgy with the older family, she allowed herself to believe and quickened to be reborn as a tree nymph fae. She is bisexual and has a rebellious streak, but fiercely loyal to her poly family. As a tree fairy she enjoys being in nature, and sometimes has to take time to get away from the mundane technological life and dwell in nature. Lexi often joins her to frolic in her fox natural form. Loyal to the family her connection to Lexi is strong.

Naomi - Halfling

Supernaturally aged to a physical age in her twenties, she is fully an adult halfling. She is the mirror of her mother, Alyssa, when Alyssa was younger, her adult form is understatedly beautiful. Her powers are a combination of her parents, making her a very powerful halfling, but still learning her powers. Only fae powers like transportation, invisibility, and the like are impossible for her. In her adult form she enjoys sexual relationships with the entire family, excluding both of her parents and her brother.

Characters from the Once Bitten series

Rick (was Tom) - Fae (incubus)

Powerful Incubus with a long history of past incarnations. He tended to serve as a human appearing eunuch in large harems in the past. Those experiences have increased his powers, and he is the most powerful known incubus. He is beginning to understand the enslaved nature of the harem system. Wants to actively work at empowering humans to become their best selves. He is an incubus, and needs regular sexual energy to survive. He is building a wider network of singular relationships because of his nature and need for sex. He is in love with Celia and Sammi, but as an incubus worries about his need for sex with other females, and the emotional connection with his lovers.

Sammi - Fae (naiad, water nymph)

Works in the Enclave as part of Alyssa's organization. Works as a handler for reborn fae, and is a mentor to Rick, whom she has fallen in love with. She also handles incidents that might reveal fae operations in the mundane world. Always busy, she is always moving, fully believes that humans and fae are symbiotic in nature and need to co-exist more closely. She keeps a cabin in the south of San Diego bay, and enjoys her solitude there often.

Celia - Human

Rick's human girlfriend, Celia is being exposed to the supernatural realm of the Fae. In love with Rick, she wants a rich relationship. She understands herself to be monogamous and heterosexual. She struggles with Rick's polyamorous nature even as she understands his nature requires multiple partners.

The World and Locations

The world our characters live in has Fae and humans combined. Generally the fae (of all types) have a human/mundane form they appear as to humans. Rarely do they display their true fae forms in public. When they do, the incidents need to be handled to not spoil human-fae relations.

In general humans as a whole do not respond well to an understanding of a supernatural world that surrounds them. If knowledge of the fae becomes too widespread, humans will act hostile to the fae, and to their own best interests. This tendency to respond negatively to overt magical influences is called, "pitchforks" by the characters as a shorthand.

Because humans need magic in their lives, and in its absence devolve towards their baser instincts - the light fae try to interact with humans to share magic and live to a better tomorrow. The dark fae believes that humans are unnecessary and try to increase their powers and influence. The two factions have gone back and forth through history.

Some humans are able to understand and accept the fae-human dual world reality. They are considered allies to the fae, and slowly recognize the benefit fae magic has on themselves individually and humans as a whole.

Fae are eternal, and only rarely do they procreate with humans. They cannot procreate with other fae. Fae also cannot die, not permanently, they can be recycled, and when successful, reborn. Recycled fae can be moved to different parts of the world, or sometimes stay in the same part of the world where they were recycled. When reborn they have few memories of past incarnations, but as they grow in their new incarnation they can relive their past lives.
