Billy was a model employee the rest of the day. The sun melted much of the snow, and the roads were easily passable by the time Lucy went home. After eating a take out pizza, she went down to her basement and turned on the lights. Standing in the corner was an odd contraption her old boyfriend made for her in Kearney, Nebraska: a huge press mounted on a prie-dieu. Her heart fluttered with the memories of the night he assembled it for her, and made her tingle, burn and glow with passion.
Across the room, she noticed a bracket mounted on the concrete wall: when she moved in it was a support for some heavy shelving the previous owner used for displaying collectables. It was exceptionally sturdy, and looked like it was well installed. Her thoughts raced in her head of how it could be used. Looking around, there were several handy power sockets in the wall along the bottom, and several hooks hung from the ceiling. She had the next two days off, and it would be a short journey to Cape Girardeau to make some purchases.
Her phone rang, and it was her friend Henri. "What you do to that boy today, Lucy?"
"Huh?"
"He come home with the strangest look on his face. Almost too happy for me to put up with."
"I dunno what you're talking 'bout."
A giggle snuck through the earpiece. "You'll tell me when ya want. Seems ya got the knack of controlling that little shit."
"I got more than that, Henri. Maybe we got lots of fun with him to come."
"That be good news."
