"Sounds like you really need me around then," he said as he scraped the last of the pastry crust from the platter. His words hung in the air for a moment before they clicked into place in my brain.
"You need a job, right?" I asked.
"Yes I do," he answered with a sigh.
"I need an assistant..." I said, a smile creeping onto my face. "Are you any good at kneading dough?"
He looked at me for a moment before smiling back. "Is that the entire interview?"
"Come on," I said, rising from my chair. "Let's see what you can do."
I took him back to the kitchen and started pulling ingredients off the shelves, my heart racing as I considered the possibilities that lay before me. I slid my engagement ring from my finger and slipped it into my pocket, then got to work.

Nicely done and I hope to see a good conclusion, which would include the aspiring politician revealed for what he is. More importantly, with our heroine hooked to a guy who deserves her and happy.
