Life Goes On

"You okay?" Lucas asked after a minute, the worry in his eyes warmed Olivia and made her feel safe.

"I'm fine," Olivia whispered, pushing her hips off of the bed and towards his. Lucas groaned and began thrusting slowly. He grabbed her hips so that she stayed in the same rhythm he was in. "Oh Luke!" Olivia whimpered, her eyes widening as the pain receded and pleasure rushed through her. Lucas smiled and thrust harder and faster within her. "Look at you Cohen! What'd you do, get laid?" one of the other officers that worked at the desk asked.

"None of your business," Lucas snapped. He pushed past them and knocked on the office door to the lieutenant in charge of the squad.

"What is it Officer Cohen?" the lieutenant asked. Lucas walked into the office and closed the door behind him before telling the man what Olivia had told him and what he had seen.

"He doesn't know where Liv is, and I want to keep it that way, but he's threatening Olivia's younger sister Mackenzie," Lucas said.

"How old is Olivia and how old is her sister?" the lieutenant wanted to know.

"Olivia will be twenty three, she just graduated from the University of Arizona and Mackenzie is, if memory serves me correctly is twelve," Lucas answered. He gave the lieutenant the tape he had made the night before. "Olivia is scared, very scared and judging by the welts and bruises she has all over her body, she has every right and reason to be," he added. "Lieutenant Murphy, we need to help them," Lucas finished.

"We will Cohen, don't worry about that. You know I have daughters myself and what this boy has done is despicable and offensive. I do need to know what your relationship with her is," Lieutenant Murphy said. Lucas hesitated. "I can't help her if I don't know the whole story," the lieutenant reminded him.

"Until last night when I bumped into her at the airport, I hadn't seen her since she graduated from high school. She came over very early this morning after receiving a phone call from her ex," Lucas answered.

"What kind of a relationship do you have with her?" Lieutenant Murphy asked again.

"We're friends," Lucas said.

"Did you have sex with the girl?" Lieutenant Murphy wanted to know.

"Yes, sir, I did," Lucas admitted. His lieutenant sighed.

"This complicates things a bit," he grumbled.

"I know." Lucas ran his hand through his hair.

"I'm assigning you to be her body guard then. Anywhere she goes, you go, understood?" Lieutenant asked. Lucas nodded. "Get out of here," the Lieutenant added, waving Lucas away.

Olivia was just waking back up when Lucas walked back into his house an hour later with a bag of donuts and two cups of coffee. "Where'd you go?" Olivia wanted to know.

"To work. The lieutenant, whom you'll meet later, has assigned me to be your body guard until this mess with Patrick is straightened up," Lucas answered, handing her the bag of donuts. Olivia pulled a glazed donut from the bag and took a generous bite.

"He'll come for me, it's only a matter of time," Olivia said quietly.

"And I'll be here to stop him," Lucas promised. He gave her a tight hug and kissed her gently. "I promise," he added.
