"She was shot?!" Sara's voice raised an octave and Shawn grabbed the phone from her.
"What the fuck is happening out there?" Shawn asked harshly.
"It's complicated Mr. Reed. Olivia's going to be fine, his aim sucked and hit her in the shoulder. I talked with the doctor. Liv's going to be fine; she's being kept over night for observation and will be released in the morning," Lucas' voice wavered a little but he pulled it together and ran his hand over his face.
"We're coming out there," Shawn said.
"I have to advise against that Shawn. I know you're worried about Olivia, I don't blame you, but I can protect her easier if you, Sara and Mac are not acting like targets," Lucas said, his voice firm. He heard Sara struggle with Shawn to get the phone back.
"What are you planning on doing Lucas?" Sara wanted to know.
"By the end of the week, I'll be taking Olivia to an undisclosed location. I'll call you once we're there," Lucas answered.
"I don't like this Lucas," Sara said.
"I know, I'm sorry, but I can't risk Pat having some way of picking up on this call," Lucas told her. Sara was quiet for a long time. "Sara?" Lucas asked.
"Call me when she's safe," Sara said finally before hanging up.
CHAPTER THREE
"Where are we going?" Olivia wanted to know as she and Lucas drove out of the city.
"Some place safe," Lucas answered.
"Are you sure?" Olivia asked, winced when the car ran over a pot hole.
"Sorry, and yes, I'm sure." Lucas' voice was tense and neither of them spoke until they got to the cabin.
Olivia followed Lucas into the cabin and stayed quiet as he showed her around. "There's only one bedroom," Olivia heard herself say. Lucas gave her a pointed stare and she blushed at the heat she saw in his eyes.
"Feeling shy?" Lucas asked gently. He knew that Olivia was scared of what was happening with Patrick and what her future with Lucas could hold.
"It's not that, but what if I ..." Lucas crossed the slight distance between them quickly and kissed her gently, cupped her face with his hand.
"You know I'll be here, no matter what," Lucas' voice was soft and kind.
"It will enrage Pat more than he already is," Olivia murmured.
"I will protect you Livvy," Lucas promised. He lowered his head to hers and kissed her again as he pushed the straps to the sun dress down Olivia's shoulders.
"Luke," Olivia whispered as her clothes fell to the floor.
"Don't think, just feel," Lucas advised. Olivia moaned as he took one of her stiffening nipples into his mouth and suckled gently, her hands closed to fists and gripped his hair as he lavished attention on her.
"Luke," she whimpered as he switched to the neglected breast. The sensations Lucas was causing within her made her weak in the knees. Her hands tightened in his hair and Luke swept her up into his arms and carried her over to the bed. He set her down gently and quickly but efficiently removed his own clothing before joining Olivia on the bed. The two weeks of medically mandated celibacy had taken it's toll and the look in Lucas' eyes reminded Olivia of a wolf chasing it's prey.
"I'm sorry I can't take this slow," Lucas' voice was harsh as he rolled the condom over his rock hard cock before he moved over her and slid effortlessly inside her. Olivia moaned and lifted her hips to meet his thrust for thrust as Lucas lowered his lips back to hers, devoured her. Olivia met him thrust for thrust, ignoring the pain in her shoulder. Lucas finally released her mouth to breathe and lifted himself slightly off of her to nibble on her neck before sliding his lips to her breasts and nipped lightly. Olivia moaned loudly and wrapped her arms around his waist, her whole body was shaking with pleasure. Lucas groaned as she clenched around his cock and began thrusting harder and faster, stroking against her g-spot. Olivia screamed loudly as she came, her back arched off the bed and her nails dug into Lucas' back as he came deep within the condom. Olivia panted, trying to catch her breath and was unable to hide the wince when the pain from her shoulder hit full force. Lucas looked at her with a look of apology and shifted, but stopped at the look of confusion on Olivia's face as she felt a gush of fluid rush into her. Lucas pulled out of her and swore.
"Luke?" Olivia asked worriedly.
"I'm sorry Livvy," Lucas' voice was soft as he pulled off and showed her the now broken condom. The color drained out of Olivia's face, only partly to do with the pain in her shoulder. Lucas disappeared into the bathroom and took care of the condom before he returned to the bedroom and slowly sank on the bed next to her. "Did I hurt you?" Lucas asked, trying to keep his mind off of anything but the broken condom; he knew that the chances of Olivia being pregnant had just doubled and that she couldn't start the prescribed birth control for another two weeks.
"I'm okay," Olivia lied, but the pain in her face was a dead give away and Lucas slid off the bed to get her pain pills.
"Don't lie to me Liv, I can't help you if you lie," Lucas said gently. He handed her two pills and the bottle of water he'd grabbed from the bag. Olivia took the bottle and swallowed down the pills. He watched her for a moment before reaching out to tilt her face towards his. "Livvy, talk to me love, please," Lucas murmured.
"I'm scared," Olivia admitted.
"Of what?" Lucas asked.
"Of Pat, of how I feel about you and ..." Olivia trailed off.
"And what?" Lucas asked.
"You," Olivia whispered.
"Of me? Why?" Lucas wanted to know, surprised. Olivia flinched, expecting him to hit her. "Livvy, I promised that I would never hurt you, and while I broke that a few minutes ago, that wasn't something I intended," Lucas reminded her. Olivia blushed and Lucas brushed his thumb against her cheek. "Livvy, talk to me," Lucas pleaded.
"What if I'm pregnant?" Olivia whispered. The look of fear on Olivia's face nearly broke Lucas' heart. "You won't want me then."
"Olivia, listen to me very carefully," Lucas said, careful to keep his voice even. "I love you Livvy, and I am not going anywhere. If you're pregnant, then we will handle that, I promise. You aren't alone in this," Lucas told her. Olivia sniffled and wince as she shifted her weight. "Why don't you get some rest, I'll finish unpacking the car and make you some dinner," Lucas suggested. Olivia nodded and slid down under the covers. Lucas pressed a gentle kiss to her lips before heading towards the door. He stopped in the doorway and turned back to her. "Livvy?" Lucas called her name. Olivia looked up at him through sleepy eyes. "I love you," he told her. Olivia gave him a small smile and Lucas disappeared from the doorway.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I can't believe you allowed our daughter to go with Lucas without letting us know where they were going!" Shawn exclaimed. Sara sighed and slammed the pot she was filling with water on the counter.
"I trust Lucas Shawn, he's a good kid," Sara said.
"With our daughter?" Shawn asked.
"We don't have much of a choice," Sara murmured.
"Patrick is psycho Sara, if you hadn't noticed, he's tried to kill one daughter and do God knows what to our other daughter!" Shawn shouted.
"Don't yell at me Shawn! Luke was right, if we'd gone out there, we just would have given Patrick more targets," Sara's voice rose an octave.
"Will you both stop? Olivia is a big girl, if she trusts Luke, then you should trust him too!" Mackenzie exclaimed, walking into the kitchen to snag an apple.
"Mac, it isn't that simple," Shawn began.
"Yes it is! You just don't really like the idea that Olivia is alone with someone as yummy as Luke," Mackenzie said. Sara hid her chuckle with a cough.
"I don't want that mental image Sara," Shawn growled, knowing exactly what his wife was thinking. Sara blinked innocently.
"Mac, go do your homework," Sara told her daughter before stepping closer to her husband. She waited for Mackenzie to roll her eyes and run up the back stairs to her room. "Do you remember what my father said and did after he'd found out we were having Liv?" Sara asked Shawn. Shawn nodded, remembering it as if it had been said and done just the day before.
Let's go Joyce," Ben said. The look on his face showed his rage, and when Shawn looked over at Ben, swallowed hard; the look on Ben's face looked like that of a mad man's and it was all Shawn could do to keep from panicking.
"What are you going to do?" Joyce asked.
"Let's go now Joyce. She isn't our daughter any longer," Ben said harshly.
"Now wait just a second here!" Joyce exclaimed.
"No, I will not wait just a second. I allowed you to be the primary parent in the home because that is what you wanted. Under your care, our son became engaged with a bimbo who couldn't properly learn how to do the back and chest thumps required to keep our son alive and our daughter got herself knocked up!" Ben shouted.
"Daddy please!" Sara whispered, tears streaming down her face. Ben turned to face Sara again.
"My daughter is a smart, beautiful young woman with a bright future ahead of her. You maybe beautiful, but you are a dumb little whore with no future and you sure as hell aren't my daughter anymore," Ben said, his voice a low growl. "Let's go Joyce, NOW!" he added as he turned on his heel and walked out of the apartment.
"What's your point?" Shawn asked Sara.
"Don't act like my father acted when Livvy calls later, or you'll push her away and end up being alone and miserable like my father," Sara whispered.
"I don't want to push her away, I just don't want to think of her having sex. I know she was a virgin when she left for Michigan, but I don't know how far she and Luke have gone," Shawn sighed and shook his head.
"She's a smart girl Shawn, smarter than I was. She's already beaten my record," Sara reminded him. Shawn nodded and brightened a little as the phone rang. "Hi Olivia," Sara said, picking up the receiver.
"Are you okay?" Shawn asked on the extension.
"I'm sore, but yeah, I'm okay," Olivia's voice was strained, exhaustion filled every word.
"You should rest Liv," Shawn advised.
"I know, I have been and I will in a bit, but I wanted to call you and mom. How's Mac?" Olivia wanted to know.
"Your sister is fine, she's upstairs doing homework," Sarah answered.
"Dad, I don't want to be rude, but I need to talk to mom alone, is that okay?" Shawn frowned when he heard the nervousness in his daughter's voice.
"Did Lucas hurt you?" Shawn's voice was harsher than he intended.
"I'm fine dad, I just need some woman to woman advice," Olivia answered. Shawn hesitated for a moment. "Really dad, Luke's been great," Olivia murmured. Shawn sighed, he could hear the love Olivia held for Lucas in her voice. Shawn mumbled something about what he would do if Lucas hurt her. "Dad, Luke hasn't hurt me," Olivia scolded gently before her father hung up his extension.
"Shawn, I'll come talk to you when Liv and I get off the phone," Sara said when Shawn leaned against the counter. Shawn grumbled and headed up the stairs. "What's going on Liv, you sound worried," Sara wanted to know. Olivia's next words made Sara drop the phone.
"I think I might be pregnant." Sara picked up the phone and took a deep breath.
"What do you mean you think you might be?" Sara asked, seeing Shawn come back down the stairs to investigate the sound of the dropped phone. She shooed him away, knowing Shawn would blow a gasket. Shawn growled again but turned back up the stairs.
"The first time we used a condom, then we said we weren't going to have sex again and the next time we had sex, we forgot. We've used a condom every single time since then, but one of the condoms broke. The ER doctor wouldn't put me on the morning after pill thanks to my extensive allergies to antibiotics and he said that it would weaken the effectiveness of the birth control. He gave me a prescription for birth control but not to take it until I had a period or a positive test," Olivia's voice wavered and a wave of dizziness forced her to sit on the bedroom floor.
"How late are you?" Sara's voice was soft.
"A few days," Olivia answered.
"How many is a few?" Sara wanted to know.
"Five," Olivia whispered.
"Is there a near by town you can get to without being caught by Pat?" Sara asked.
"Yes, we're going in later for supplies," Olivia's voice was shaking.
"Is there a doctor's office?"
"Yes." Sara could hear the panic and tears in her daughter's voice.
"Olivia, calm down. It isn't the end of the world. Go see the doctor and have a blood test done. You know that stress can affect your cycle. Don't panic, but you need to let Luke know what's going on," Sara advised.
"I'm scared mom," Olivia whispered.
"I know sweetie, but it's going to be okay. Trust Luke, he's a good guy," Sara said. She saw Shawn coming back into the kitchen, fury written all over his face. "Call me later Liv, I have to go now," Sara added before quickly hanging up. "Shawn," Sara warned as she watched her husband pick up the phone.
"I'm going to Michigan Sara, and I'm going to rip his cock and his balls into pieces and shove them down his throat," Shawn growled, dialing the number to a travel agent.
"Shawn, you'll lead Pat right to her!" Sara exclaimed.
"Our daughter is pregnant Sara and you're worried only about Pat finding her?" Shawn asked, his voice dangerously low.
"Of course not! And we don't know for sure! Remember when she was studying for the SATs? Her stress level was so high that she didn't have a period for two months!" Sara reached for the phone, took it and hung it up before reaching for Shawn's hand. "Shawn, I don't want her to be pregnant any more than you do, but you have to trust Olivia to make the right decisions," Sara said gently. Shawn slammed his hand on the counter, making Sara jump. "And you have to trust that Sam and Kelsey did a good enough job with Luke and that if Liv is pregnant that he'll stay with her like you stayed with me," Sara's voice was soft and full of love for the man who had completely taken her by surprise.
The anger in Shawn's eyes faded slightly and he sighed, knowing Sara was right.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Livvy, what's going on? Are you okay?" Lucas finally caught up with Olivia outside the doctor's office.
"I'm fine Luke, but I promised Doctor Landry that before I started taking the birth control that I'd have another doctor do a pregnancy test," Olivia murmured, deciding not to tell him that she was already almost positive that she was pregnant.
"Weren't you due to start a few days ago?" Lucas asked, proving he knew her better than she realized. For a minute, Olivia held her breath as she nodded, waited for his reaction. "Do you want me to go with you?" Lucas asked her.
"What about the other supplies?" Olivia wanted to know.
"I got most of them earlier, I just need to pick up the perishables," Lucas told her.
"I'm scared," Olivia whispered as she reached for the door handle.
"Livvy, let me come with you," Lucas pleaded. Olivia nodded and took another step towards the door when another wave of dizziness nearly knocked her over. "What's wrong? Are you alright?" concern filled his voice as he helped Olivia sit down on the curb.
"Just a little dizzy, I'm okay," Olivia managed after a minute. Lucas frowned and brushed his thumb across her cheek. "Really Luke, I'm okay," Olivia whispered, allowing him to help her back to her feet. Lucas quickly ushered Olivia into the doctor's office and hung back as she spoke to the receptionist.
Lucas and Olivia sat quietly in the chairs at the desk in the doctor's personal office as they waited for her to come in with the test results. Olivia stared nervously at her hands. "Liv, look at me," Lucas' voice was soft. When Olivia looked up, Lucas was on one knee in front of her. "Livvy, my life has changed so much since we reconnected and you mean the world to me. Will you marry me?" Lucas asked, trying to keep his voice steady. Olivia gaped at him and at the dainty diamond ring he held in front of her and before she could answer, there was a knock on the door. Lucas sighed but sat back in his chair and tucked the ring back into the box and into his jacket pocket as the doctor opened the door and walked inside. Olivia swallowed nervously as the doctor sat down at her desk and opened up the file she carried.
"So Miss Reed, I have your test results back," the doctor began. Lucas reached for Olivia's hand, who offered no protest when he took her hand in his and held it tightly as their world changed.
~~~~~~~~
"Livvy, we should talk," Lucas' voice was quiet when he walked into the bedroom. He frowned when he saw she was still curled into a ball, the way he'd left her nearly an hour before.
"I don't want to talk Luke, I just want to sleep," Olivia whispered.
"Well, you need to eat and so do I, so we're going to talk," Lucas said firmly but gently. He turned back into the hall and grabbed the dinner tray.
"I'm not hungry," Olivia grumbled, rolling over and facing the wall.
"Tough," Lucas' voice was gruff, letting her know he was still trying to figure things out.
"I don't feel well Luke," Olivia admitted. Lucas' gaze softened as he set the tray on the bedside table.
"It's just some soup and crackers Liv, can you try a few sips?" Lucas asked gently. Olivia nodded and sat up in bed. She managed a few sips of broth and sighed at the look on Lucas' face. "You still haven't answered my question," he reminded her.
"You only asked because you thought I was pregnant," Olivia said bitterly.
"You are pregnant," Lucas reminded Olivia.
"That isn't a good enough reason to get married," Olivia groused..
"I didn't ask because you're pregnant Liv, and I didn't ask because I thought you were pregnant, I asked because I love you," Lucas told her.
"I'm not stupid Luke," Olivia whispered. Lucas sighed, stood up, stalked over to the dresser, pulled out the ring box and a piece of paper and dropped them in front of her.
"I bought this ring last month Liv," Lucas told her, pointing at the receipt. "I love you Liv. Take your time, I'm not going anywhere," Lucas added, taking a large bite of his own soup. He watched her as she studied the receipt with shaking hands. "What are you thinking?" he asked a few moments later when Olivia took a sip of ice water.
"I'm scared," Olivia admitted.
"Of what?" Lucas wanted to know.
"Of everything. Of what happens if Pat finds us, telling my parents about the baby, about us," Olivia's voice was soft and shaky. Lucas stood up and pulled the table away from the bed before sitting down on the bed next to her.
"Do you trust me?" Lucas asked, taking her hands in his.
"With my life," Olivia whispered. Lucas smiled gently and picked up the discarded ring box, removed the ring from it and slid it on her left ring finger. Olivia looked at the ring then looked back up up at him.
"Let me love you," Lucas' voice was barely audible. He leaned over and kissed her gently, lovingly, caressed her shoulders gently. Lucas pulled away only long enough to quickly remove his clothing. "I'll love you forever," he vowed.
"I love you too," Olivia whispered before his lips claimed hers again. Olivia whimpered with need as Lucas reached for the bottom of her tank top and pulled it over her head. "Luke, I ..." her words were cut off by his lips covering hers as he eased her shorts and panties down her legs in one swift motion, letting the drop to the floor next to the bed. Olivia moaned softly when Lucas' hands brushed the side of her breasts, tweaked her sensitive nipples; arched against him when one of his hands continued to brush down her body, stopping only when his fingers slipped through the curls covering her hot and damp pussy. He slid his finger across her slit and she whimpered, hungry for more. Lucas eased her back against the pillows, kissed her once more before trailing kisses further down her body. Olivia's breath became ragged when he paused to give each tender breast, all thoughts drifted away as his fingers began to slide gently inside her.
