She wiped them away and sniffled hard, then sat up. She hung her head and cried as quietly as she could, hugging herself as she sobbed. When her tears were spent, she laid back in bed with a tired sigh. An idea began to form in her mind, and as much as she wanted to throw it aside at first, it sparkled like a dark jewel. Mentally, she turned it over, looking at it from a few angles, then mentally pocketed it until morning.
"Well, if I can't trust my own family, who can I trust?" she whispered to herself, and smiled as she flopped over onto her belly. Resting her cheek on her pillow, she felt her eyelids slip closed, and soon she eased down into the warm arms of sleep.
