One was still out there and he wouldn't close both eyes until he knew where. After another night of sweats and nightmares, he decided to stop becoming prey and do some stalking of his own.
When things began to get back to a semblance of normalcy, Chris asked his superiors for time off. He could have asked for the world and they would have obliged, after everything he went through. The next morning, he stood in line at Hartsfield-Jackson International airport, a small duffel on his back.
He was next in line and when the cute desk agent asked him his destination, he said, "Rio De Janeiro."
Missing a pretty important tag; story was fine until the other dude was involved.
A good read and I thought it was pretty original with a good twist at the end. Had no idea what was going to happen next. Technically it needs a little proofing/editing to polish the story a bit but everything is here with the plot, characters and pace. Good work!

... but I wanted to post a comment anyway, to say that I enjoyed the clever expressions you used along the way, like: "Any other time, he would have welcomed a sight such as hers, sans weapon." Or "She shook more water from her face and her hair, a crazy anti-rain dance that disturbed the people in close proximity." Good stuff.
