"Then wouldn't it better to just not mention anything to your friends at all?" She asked. "Or do you not even consider the feelings of these girls that you sleep with?"
"I care about their feelings," he firmly said.
"But not enough to keep from sharing intimate details with your friends."
"Look, I'm a guy, Claudia. Sometimes we talk to each other about our sexual experiences."
"Right."
"All guys do it, and if they say they don't, they're lying."
"All right, Lucas." She absentmindedly combed a few fingers through her curls. "Lunch is almost over, so I'm going to finish my meal."
"Claudia, wait." He quickly followed, and after effectively blocking her way through the cafeteria doors, he stared deep into her eyes. "So are we good, now? Because I really want us to be."
As his eyes took on a puppy dog expression, she averted her gaze so that he couldn't pull her in. But when he cradled her chin so that she was forced to look back up at him, her eyes locked with his.
"I don't know, Lucas. I'm not quite sure where we stand."
"I've been truthful with you, Claudia. I had nothing to do with that note."
"And I believe you," she said.
"Why are we not good, then?"
Claudia's gaze dropped from his, lips pushing out in a soft sigh before she finally rested her eyes back on his handsome face. "I like you, Lucas. But I think It's pretty clear you only want me for one thing."
Lucas only looked at her, allowing a moment of silence to build as he waited for her to continue speaking.
"When I have sex with a guy, I want it to be special. And I want it to be with someone who actually cares for me as a person. Not just because I fulfill some sort of egoic desire."
She could have said a lot more, and for a moment she thought of continuing. But there really wasn't anything more to explain, as she could tell from the look in his eyes that he completely got what she was saying.
"I'm not gonna lie, Claudia. The idea of you being a virgin does turn me on, and yes I do want to be your first. But these past three months, I've developed some feelings for you."
"Feelings?"
"Yes. And not just lustful feelings, but the sort of feelings that make me want to get to know you better. In a non sexual way."
To this, Claudia only offered a look that didn't just suggest skepticism, but screamed it.
"Look, you don't have to believe me," he said, "but I'm telling the truth here. You're a different kind of a girl, and I like that about you. Ever since I first saw you that day in the parking lot of the Kwik Stop, I felt like there was something special about you."
"Please don't feed me lines," she said.
"It's not a line," he rebutted. "Now will you please just be quiet and hear me out?"
She did fall silent, but regarded him with a look that indicated her surprise at the assertiveness in his voice.
"I like you, Claudia. A lot. And I would *love* to have sex with you. But if you aren't ready to go all the way, I'd be more than willing to wait."
Having heard, yet finding it difficult to believe that he'd actually spoken those words, Claudia blinked a few times before finally responding.
"Okay. Well I hear what you're saying and everything, but the thing is, you're still dating Misty. So it sort of makes it impossible for this thing between us to go any further."
"We're not dating," he rebutted. "We're just casually seeing each other."
"Define casual," she said.
Lucas's stance slightly changed as he shifted from one foot to the other, and with both hands stuffed into the pockets of his jeans, he elaborated. "We're physically involved, but we don't have a commitment to one another."
The arch of Claudia's eyebrows indicated for him to continue.
"She's free to hang out and date other people, and so am I."
"Besides Misty, are you seeing anyone else?"
"No, I'm not."
Silence ensued while Claudia contemplated the conversation they'd just had, but as Lucas reached out to brush a coiled lock away from her forehead, her thoughts were suddenly broken.
"So what's up?" He asked while leaning in closer. "Think you'd be willing to give me a chance to hang out with you sometime?"
"I don't know, maybe," she said with a shrug. "We'll see how it goes."
"Come on, Claudia." His breath fanned her cheek, eyes darkening with an almost hungry look. "I like you, and you like me, so what's the problem?"
"I'm just not sure if It's a good idea to get involved with you," she said. "I don't think I'm at a point in my life where I can handle something like this right now."
"But all we'd be doing is hanging out," he said. "No sex involved, I promise."
She did her best to keep still as Lucas drew closer, but the heat from his body was making her heart pump faster.
"There's a lot of other stuff we could do beside have sex, you know." As the words left his mouth, Lucas's gaze dipped down to her lips, as if considering the possibility of tasting them. "Certain things that we could try out...things that would make the both of us feel really good."
Claudia thought of saying something in return, but the way he stared unblinking into her eyes made her mind go foggy with lust. She could have made a go at repressing her feelings, but her willpower was dust on the floor, not to mention the fact that she was subconsciously leaning in toward him. And yet still, it seemed as if he was continually finding a way to gradually erase the inches between them.
"I can be pretty creative when it comes to that type of thing," he said.
"What thing?" Having lost herself in the woodsy scent of his cologne, she was finding it difficult to concentrate on anything else.
"Finding different ways to pleasure a woman." With her back now against the wall that was behind her, he had effectively pinned her in, and was ready to make the next move. "Would you like for me to demonstrate one of them?"
Her mouth went dry, and instead of pumping, her heart literally pounded in her chest. But as she realized that his eyes were still hooked to her mouth, she immediately sensed what he was preparing to do. He breathed deep, nostrils flaring before softening again, and as he tilted her chin upward, she unconsciously parted her lips.
Lucas leaned in slowly, allowing her to feel the heat of his breath. His palm came down to cradle her waist, face moving even closer until she could see every individual lash in his eyelids. But it was the sudden press of her palm against his chest that broke the powerful tension which had been building.
"You don't wanna kiss me?" His brows scrunched together, lips pressing tight with disappointment.
"No, It's not that," she said. "I just don't think we should be doing it right here." Her eyes darted towards the cafeteria door, as if expecting Misty to bust through it at any moment.
"Then where?" He asked. "We both want it right now, so what's the use of waiting?"
She didn't have one rebuttal to give in return, so this time as his chest pressed forward, she lowered her outstretched palm. But with the breaking down of one barrier, immediately came the attempted creation of another.
*What are you doing?* A voice inside of her screamed. *You're actually going to let him kiss you?*
Damn right I am, she wanted to say back to the voice, but all she could focus on was how warm Lucas's breath felt against her mouth. Their breathing seemed to deepen at the very same moment, and as their lips came together, a moan bubbled from her throat. Their lips moved slowly, savoring the taste and texture of each other's tongues.
She felt his arms encircle her waist so that she was enveloped in his hold, and as her palm came up to cradle the back of his head, their kiss deepened even further. Clearly hungering for more, Lucas allowed his hips to brush with hers, and that was when she felt his erection. Even through the fabric of his jeans, she could tell how solid and thick it was, and that was when a torturous desire ripped straight through her body.
As their kissing intensified, she knew that the time had come for her to pull away, but since there was a wall behind her, she was unable to disengage herself from Lucas's arms and separate her lower half from his.
Perhaps it was just as well, however, because the feel of his hardness was making her vaginal muscles tense in the most delicious way. It took some time for it to happen, but they finally managed to run out of breath, and with lips smacking wetly, they finally pulled away.
"Wow," he said.
"Yeah."
"That was really nice."
"Uh-huh," she breathlessly replied.
They stood there for a few more moments before Lucas leaned in for another taste of her mouth, but Claudia stopped him with a gentle push against the chest.
"Something wrong?" He asked.
"No," she said. "I just think we should be getting back to the cafeteria. We've been gone for a pretty long time."
"Okay." As if suddenly realizing that the bulge beneath his jeans was pressing against her center, he took a few steps backward. "Sorry if I seem aggressive. I've just been waiting so long to kiss you."
His calloused fingers reached out for her smooth brown ones, but before he could pull her closer, she slowly backed away until the link of their fingers was broken.
"I have to go," she said in a firm voice. "See you later."
She started away from him, only to find herself halted by the sound of his voice calling out to her.
"Claudia?"
"Yeah?" She asked while turning around to face him.
"Thanks."
"For what?"
"Believing me."
She nodded faintly, and with the feel of his gaze still on her, she turned and headed through the cafeteria doors.
