Netalia couldn't help but laugh at the stories being shared. There was love in the family and it was impossible to mistake it for anything else. Her heart ached; she missed her parents and siblings, but most of all, she missed Jordan. "You're awfully quiet tonight Netalia," Nancy observed.
"I'm just thinking," Netalia murmured.
"About?" Nancy asked.
"I miss my family and Jordan," Netalia answered.
"What about the baby?" Nancy wanted to know.
"I never even held her," Netalia whispered, hot tears welling up in her eyes.
"How old is she?" Nancy asked.
"Almost three months," Netalia answered.
"Go home Netalia, go to your family, to your daughter," Nancy told her.
"What if he won't take me back?" Netalia asked.
"That's a chance you have to take. That little girl of yours is going to need a mother," Nancy said. She gave Netalia a tight hug. "You always have a place here," she added.
Netalia smiled as Nancy walked away, her mind buzzing with thoughts. With a shake of her head, Netalia said her goodbyes and made her way to her half of the duplex. Netalia scribbled a note that simply said, "Going home."
